Fender Mounted Axe and Shovel on JK? Your vote counts!

Love the Earthroamer. Nothing against pioneer tools at all, but I vote no to the fender mount. Too exposed, I think.

How about the hood?

Personally, no, but, it is your vehicle. Ultimatly, you are the one that has to see it,deal with it day 2 day and , if it ever happens, fix it if it gets hung up on anything.
I think I would figure a way to mount them on the front bumper....

I think if you put one on each fender, and in tight right on the surface of the fender, it would be better.

I agree one on each side is better....but...ultimately I agree with, and in your situation would do this....

.... over the rear fenders against the body would be sweet (one on each side).

On another note....

Like many, I've carried pioneer tools on off-road trips for years. I've had occasion to use the shovel, and high-lift jack, and even a bow saw from time to time.

I've never had to use my ax, though. Has anyone used one regularly?

When I'm on camping/wheeling trips..YES...almost everytime. Just wheeling trips? Not so much.

HOWEVER, I carry mine inside ALL the time, so no concerns of rust, mud, theft, ect...

:wings: One of my favorite mods...also one of the least expensive :victory:

Sorry I vote no also. Could be deadly in an frontal crash I would not want a handle in the face or chest, from a safety aspect no way. Granted I have a Tundra I mounted mine with Quick Fist on the side of the bed.

What size are your JP tires?

Yes, indeed: Grand Cherokee "winter" steelies with Goodyear Duratrac ATs. I left the alloys with the Goodyear MT/Rs until I see how I like the Duratracs. May even keep the MT/Rs as a second set of tires to swap on for the mud months.

Here's your picture:

Agree, a fair amount of money to have those issues... :(

Even my KK with a diesel heater, it would be better if the tanks were insulated/heated so one might be able to keep the water flowing in lower temps, not all trips are sunny and warm. Of course the external faucet would still be a concern.

However, I think Brady proved that the Eezi-Awn worked pretty well in a very cold environment during the Arctic Expedition. Cold, but not very wet if I remember correctly.

On Topic: Interested in Mr mhiscox's new tent/camping solution.

Wow, that must be horribly disappointing that the tent leaked on that thing? Unreal. It's kind of a reinforcement of my thinking that so much of this stuff is designed for Africa/Australia/SouthWesternUS.
