38 mm Metrinch impact deep If you can get it, they push on the flat and bite like a bastard.
If you pop the front free wheeling hub off by undoing the screws and removing the dial,
You then need cir-clip pliers to take the clip off the drive axle, then undo the hex head bolts and use two of them to wind the drive off find the 2 threaded bolt holes in the drive hub which will be concentric with the ones you removed (don't take the drive apart!!!) thats the heavy silver thing the dial came off, then you should be confronted by 2 6mm bolts with 10 mmheads on them, take them off and then the washer that they hold on.
your bearing retainer is now in view. don't undo it, there are 2 big holes directly opposite eachother in the retainer and 6 small holes which are for the 2 6 mm bolts with the 10 mm head . stick a long bolt in each large hole and then weld a small piece of RHS on the ends of the bolts which you can then weld a second hand 1/2" drive socket in the middle, on to which you can use a breaker bar to undo the bearings.
Great tool to have if you do a bearing in the middle of nowhere (eg, Between Bramwell station and Weipa.)
John,
that sounds like someones been driving crash box style and stretched the syncro rings, tried to PM but your mailbox is chok-a-blok mate.
Never had to do the boxes up, normally done at the dealership so I can go back and whinge with warranty, Our w'shop guy in Westco is a bit of a genius.
I'll enquire with your problems tomorrow and see if he can do the ultimate remote diagnosis.
Still trying to be patient with the other stuff.
