i use the ram suction cup mount behind the center accessories ,temp, clock ,whatever the other thing is ..lol..it holds super strong ,never had it fall off .going to mount a plug in the drivers side glove compartment so the wire dosent have to run down .the reason i did this is i want to be able to move it into my truck also..

If you are thinking of going with a Lowrance Baja in an FJ, you might consider the approach I took...

^That photo was before I dressed my wires but you get the idea.

Later, I discovered that this was also the perfect place to mount my mini CB. I even have the mic clip mounted onto the side.

I bought a few pieces of PVC fittings from Home Depot. They are JB Welded together and then painted flat black. I found a fitting that would almost fit into the cup holder (without the rubber insert). Then I kept sanding it down into a tapered fit that holds perfectly into the cup holder.

When I got it done, I realized I wanted about another inch in height. I wanted something black and rubbery and that would accept some strong screws for the RAM mount... I ended up using a hockey puck which fit the bill rather nicely. By the way, you'll see that I used stainless steel allen bolts with nylon locking nuts for the RAM mount to Lowrance fitting for assured tightness an no chance of nuts vibrating loose.

Next off-road trip I'll try to get you some more shots that show the cables dressed and the CB/Mic mounted.

I really like the form and functionality. Plus I can turn my head and get readings and such but I'm not constantly looking at it and getting fixated on my electronics.

Here is an altitude reading I am fond of:

By the way, I later made a custom light bar that includes a solid mount for the radome antenna on the roof.
