Hello there,

I am very familar with Land Rover series and the right online resources to research and puruse. Other than this site what would you suggest for FJ 60 and 62 online message boards and parts suppliers you would use?

I have used google to find quite a few, but where do you with the 60 and the 62s?

The OJ thread has me thinking as the wife may lose the company car and we will need to ad one other than the 88 Land Rover as a back up due to small children.

Thanks for the insight.

For suspension and other ARB products....Cruiser Outfitters in UT.

For sliders....Solid Rock Offroad in CO, or the 4+ line from Man-a-Fre in CA.

Rear bumpers....Slee Offroad in CO, 4x4Labs in CA, 4+ line from Man-a-Fre, or Solid Rock Offroad.

Front bumpers....ARB or 4+ from Man-a-Fre.

For factory parts, get in touch with CDan from Ih8mud. He works for American Toyota in New Mexico.

When searching for places that provide everything from AAL's to upgraded alternators to aux fuel tanks, etc., you are pretty limited to the larger companies like Man-a-Fre and Spectre Off Road.

Don't forget to search places like Wagongear, TLC4x4, Proffitts Cruisers, Hanna Quality.............

What are your plans for a 60/62???

The 60s section on ih8mud is pretty tame. Have no fear posting there. Everyone is willing to help out. There is a FAQ page in the 60s section that has some threads on what to look for when buying a 60 or 62. Look for one without rust. They are still definitely around although you might have to broaden your search to include the west coast or southwest. Criagslist is always a good place to start. There are knowledgeable people on 'MUD that can check it out for you if it isn't local.

Good luck on your search.

Thanks for the help everyone

Thanks for all of the pointers.

The 60 / 62 if the wife's car is lost in a lay off will be my daily driver / CO mountain car. I travel a lot for work so I need to be able to get to the airport in the winter. Right now I have a Sequoia which I use, she gets it as it is a 2007 and has the kids the most. I used to be a Discovery guy but it was in the shop too much and I will not bore you with the details of all three of them.

I will keep the Dormobile when it is up and running as my camping / expedition truck.

I do not plan on making heavy offroad mods to it, but rather want a 4x4 that is easy to work on, has parts available, can hold three car seats if needed and said gear to go with 3 car seats, and will not require a car note.

I like the body style and so many of them have 200k plus on the clock with good solid maint.

Thanks for the links we will see what happens if she does lose the car.

If you end up with the 62, I would consider swapping the auto for the 5 speed (H55f), especially for use in the mountains and in case you step up tire size (31-33). It's not as easy as throwing one in the 85-87 FJ60, but still doable. Search H55f over on 'mud and you'll get lots of hits with them being dropped into the 62.

Timing Timing

Funny thing is I just saw a 62 is listed in Denver now off Ih8mud. There is a little rust, and the milage is higher than I would like, but we will see what happens with the job situation for my wife.
