FJ62 destruction

FJ62 turbo diesel build

Well I hit a speed bump at the local mall trying to get to Cinnabon and the Hello Kitty Trading Card Emporium. Lo and behold my motor fell out.

Luckily we found some bits lying around here and there to use...

So with enough bailing wire and duct tape I could be rolling again in a week.. unfortunately my friend says I have to run french fries or something in it. I do not like the sound of this! Might just run it off a cliff and buy a Suburban Hybrid to be more "green."

While we were figuring out which parts needed bubble gum reinforcement (we have cases of bubble gum lying around being big hello kitty trading card fans!), the dash made a funny noise and blew apart!

spewing parts all over the place...

So we had to go looking for more stuff to fix the destroyed pieces and found a couple usable bits

I just hope nothing else falls off. My jaw is getting tired.

Being a HJ60 owner, I am familiar with the "bits-falling-off" thing... My original leaf springs fell of and all I could find was leftovers from when they make Didgeridoos!
Being Danish it might seem stupid to use Didgeridoo leftovers but I suspect they use them as packing material when they ship Didgeridoos...

I know what you are doing... and I know why you are doing it.... but man, it makes my heart hurt a little bit, to see all those parts and pieces scattered about and seeing the dash looking like it threw up....

Whoa- what a mess! You must have been driving downtown through the construction zone over all of those huge speed bumps and potholes on the way to Cinnabon/Hello Kitty at Pioneer Place! You really ought to watch out when you go flying across those deep ruts.

Looking forward to seeing the progression. :lurk:

This is awesome... Your Yoda just helped my FJ60 before yours. I had heard "you" might be visiting him, I just didn't know who "you" were. I just knew "it" would be an FJ62. 12HT's rock (edit: I just realized that you have a 1HZ). Nice to see you are a fellow ExPo'er.

I hope you will be as happy with your rig as I am with the Jedi mind tricks performed on my diesel burning Millenium Falcon wannabe (maybe I should not have continued the Star Wars reference).

Era?

It is a rebuild out of Australia from an HZJ80. It runs without leaks (was running on that stand) and compression is higher than Toyota's factory spec. Aussies know how to take care of their motors.

Yoda (lynchmob on mud) has a newly-machined 1HZ sitting in his office ready to assemble if someone wanted to buy it (or have him install into a person's rig). He also has a 1PZ sitting there ready to go that might go into a sweet FJ55 he found, an H151(?) 80 series 5spd that would bolt in, a 12H-T that needs a rebuild, and a good HD-T on its way.

He has done the 13B-T/A440 FJ62 I have been driving for a couple weeks (so sweet, powerful, and 22mpg city... and for sale), a 12H-T into his brother's 60, lostworld's 12H-T 60/H55, and now my FJ62. Super clean work and he likes diesels and doing the conversions. I am biased being his friend, but I think he is probably the best source from Australia right now- fair with his prices and absolutely honest.

He has had a BJ75 and BJ70 for as long as I've known him (I think we started talking because of my BJ42s).

His experience is why this is going smoothly. All the tricks were worked out ahead of time. We really tried to do an A440, but the cost kept going way up to do it right over the rebuilt H55/FJ62 case I am doing.
