Flippac Windows

What should I order the Flippac with?

I really like having no windows on the sides of mine, you can really load it up since you dont have to worry about anything hitting a side window. It also adds to the overall structural integrity of the shell as well as giving you a couple less potential sources for leaks/water/dust ingress. If I did mine again I would order it with no front window at all, but your situation is different.

I don't see you having the dogs locked down in camp anyway, but if you did the FP tent has PLENTY of venting when deployed. I think if you set it up right, the dogs would be fine just using the window between the FP and the cab for air and contact with mom and dad while going down the road. You could also adjust that back glass to be vented while travelling although it, or any window/windoor, will suck in copious trail dust. Windoors are an added co$t too... you would be fine without them I think but YMMV.

My dos centavos.

I agree with you... my old shell had a lot of ventilation with just the front window. I have a feeling Heidi will dig her heels in if I try to veto her on this one, so I will probably just keep the peace. Right now I'm about ready to go with the Passenger side windoor. I can see a lot of merit having easy access to that side.

Edit: On a side note; looks like Bacon is still holding a slim lead. :D

Congrats on joining the flippac club.

It sounds like you are buying from AT.
I spent 5500 with everything and color matching from FRP.
Flip down front window
Windoors: both sides
Check my posts for pics of the Gini (my truck).

I like being able to open the sides up. If it rains and you don't have a rainfly at least you can sleep in the back with the tent/lid closed and still open up a bit. I also like to go to areas close to home and just read back there in a seat. with the side windoors I can open the screen section or flip it open all the way.

Even without side windows there will be dust ingress unless you seal all the openings. I haven't done this yet and at the end of a good trip it takes a while to get all the dust out. But it is well worth it!

The GF just finished my curtains. Old desert camo for the sides and an aviation print for the back and fronts. Still working out the best way to have them mounted. Right now the sides are on somewhat flimsy curtain rods. Probably gonna go with a bungee system.

There are pros and cons for each user. Make a list for yourself and visualize how you will use it. Make sure you post up pics when you get it!

Not meaning to hijack this thread...gonna go with bungee or some other way to slide them side to side as much as I like.

Flip-pac windows

I'm new to this form and the flip-pac but have to agree with ETAV8R , I have had the rain fly leak all though and have had to close the flip-pac and use it as a camper shell and having windows really helps IMHI ?:ylsmoke:

I'm going to fork over the extra money for the rain fly. Hopefully AT's will hold up better than yours did. If I'm alone I could sleep in the bed diagonally and get away with it... I'm ~6'2". A window would certainly help in that situation.

I voted bacon. ;)

Always a good call. :D

Yes, get the fly that SLO Sail makes for AT, much improved over the FRP version and well worth every dinar. Treat it (and the FP tent) well with some NikWax and forget about leaks.

Why isn't already treated from the factory? For that much coin it should already be done.

It is like buying a new house, then having to install the shingles yourself.
