FM82 Offroad Teardrop Build

VanIsle_Greg

I think I need a bigger truck!
Glad you chimed in Mike, I was going to say "A buddy of mine used these same handles too..."

Looking good all of you, some of my fav teardrops in one thread.

Between the nearly depleted trailer funds and the 14 inches of rain we've had, it's been a slow go on the build. Hopefully picking back up in the next week or so. I'm itching to get back on it.

I did order the 5x10 aluminum composite today, for the top. And I got to mess around with the doors again. Because of the door thickness, I had to do some carving, but it turned out good and has a good fit.

Many flooded roads here. The rain kept me from working on the camper, so I had to get some fun out of the rainy weather :D

My idea with the doors, is for them to have jambs much like car doors. The inner 1/2" skins will flush up to the walls on the inside. The area around the handle looks pretty jacked up as it sits, but the inner walls/door skins will be painted, so that area will blend in and look normal once I get some paint on it.

I'm going to seal the outer edge and inner door casing with fiberglass, which will close off the gap by about 1/8", so it's possible I may have to do the same.

Got back to the framing yesterday and got full beads on all of the joints, so I'm getting close to skinning the outside. I can't make my mind up whether to float most of the outer skin using double sided adhesive or use rivets. Any recommendations you guys can toss my way?

Edit: I'm seeing many posts from folks that go the "UHB/VHB" route, which I feel pretty confident will work. Sounds like there are downfalls to any method, so it's sounds mostly like a personal preference I guess.

Found a local place to get the corner trim in 20' sections (for a small fee of $85.00 each). Not looking forward to that purchase, but it will keep it seamless.

Ha yeah, no kiddin'. There has to be other options. Where does everyone else get it from..ya know? Surely piecing together 8' sections isn't the preferred route. Idk, maybe I can come up with something else soon.
