For those considering 255/85/16s...ST/MAXX is coming soon

Just got e-mail from Tread Depot concerning tread width for the 255/85R16 and the 255/80R17... They have it as 8.15". That puts it squarely in the 33x10.50 range, which is exactly what I'm looking for! (The old cooper ST had a tread width of 7.2", and was too narrow for my taste, and for an 8" wheel IMO.) I'm getting my mostly worn out STT's peeled off the wheels and painting them up in prop for some ST Maxx's when they are finally available! (4 weeks out according to TD.)

Wonder if my $50 off Discount Tire coupon from FJ Summit is still good...

Sounds good. Some of the 255s have been too skinny at the tread for my taste (STs and KM2s) but a tread width at over 8" sounds good. Looked really close at KM2s in 255 a while back but at less than 7" wide at the tread they were just too skinny for me.

Shoot an email to Cooper tires from their website. They are very responsive and will get you an answer.

I have inquired through email to Cooper before about the 255 size in a couple different tread patterns with no reply but felt I was still helping by showing interest in the product. Glad to see they are going to pursue the St/MAXX finally.

I emailed Cooper about the 255/80/17 size on 12/23 as my discoverer ST's are getting worn. But have not heard back. Not surprised with the holidays. I asked for any specs they have on the size... Glad to hear the 8" width but would like it closer to 33.5" tall. If its not might have to consider 295/70/17 in cooper or another brand...

I hope these are not too wide for those of us with a dually that want a taller tire and not have spacers.

I'm excited about this. Too bad I am only at about half tread on my 285 STTs. I may have to sell them to get the 255s. The only problem is I love my STTs. I've never had a single issue with them.

Not totally happy with the height of the tire...would like a little taller...

Most of this size are a half inch taller. 32.8 is usually what a 285 70 R 17 measures out to, typo maybe?

Hope so, oh well if it's not.

Wonder if the 255/85 will be more traditionally sized (taller) than the 255/80?

We shall see.

Looked like a copy and paste from a chart in the email...just couldn't get the format to post here.

The BFG KM2 is suppose to be 33.3 from the specs...

I asked if there would be a 285/75/17 size and am waiting for a response.
