Ford Fullsize Thread !!!!

Moab this Spring.

'05 Excursion with 6.0 PSD (not exactly stock). F250 springs in the front. Road Master Active Suspension and airbags in the rear. Stock tire size.

I didn't get to weigh the setup this trip, but truck is about 8k pounds, trailer loaded with 2 motorbikes and gear - maybe 2100 pounds.

Ford computer said I averaged 17 MPG on the way down. I'll go with 15 MPG. Boise to Moab on one tank doing the speed limit.

The Excursion has done the complete White Rim Trail without issue, but that's about as brave as I've been with it in it's current form.

Sharp truck, but you're gonna kick yourself for not going diesel in a rig that heavy.
Already am. Yup, wish I went diesel, although it sings on the highway going 70 or faster. Little or no wind resistance - plus I beefed up the rear suspension with air bags. Hopefully I'll be ok. Doubtful I'll haul any large 5th wheel or trailer - I'm guessing that's when you really need diesel.

I have a 2013 as a work truck and have towed 40foot goose neck with 100 joints of 23/8 lined drill pipe it kept up with our 7.3 that had the same load. On location I did much better in the mud as I could break loose and clean the crap tiers we use. Also remember your oil change is 40$ not 140$ and it do sent smell funny.

I often think I should have held out for a 7.3 in my personal truck but my 5.4 with lift 35s and stock every thing has towed pulled yanked and never let me down. No I can't pull all the hills at 70 but if I did I would miss so much.

Beautiful set up non the less I wish you smooth traveling.

Hello! Introducing myself as I just found this forum. I love the "expedition" lifestyle. My rig is a 2011 F-250 PSD. I love the softopper and will be adding wheels, 35" tires, and a slight 2.5" front/3" rear lift to my truck. I'll also be removing the side-steps as they are too low.

Nice ride- I always thought a soft topper would be cool. They have a tuff and functional look to them. Looking forward to seeing the lift and rubber- so keep us posted.
