OFF ROAD SPECIAL! This little hunny has it where it counts! All wheel drive (AWD) Astro/ Safari Vans, also referred to as the "Poor- man's Sportsmobile", can keep up with a stock 4x4 Jeep on most off-road trails and hills, and can climb like a frickin GOAT! You might not think so, but these things are highly capable. The automatic transfer case does not have low range, so don't expect to go rock crawling as is. HOWEVER, it can actually be outfitted with a transfer case from an S-10 and basically bolt up with very minor mods.
If adventure is what you seek, or just towing your toys to the adventure, then this is the van for you! Can be easily converted into a "Sportsmobile" like vehicle for 1/10th the price! Plans for camperization included.

You see that alot on tour bus setups. Similar idea to the extra axle you see on dump trucks and cement trucks, extra axle is on air bags and only used when needed.
