The single rear wheel short school buses are very small and they have the shorter roofs.
If you have the skills to do the work look for an e450 with the 6'1 to 6'3" roof and put your axles under it.

Honestly.... that's not THAT overpriced. Seems to be in really good condition, has lots of recent mechanical/maintenance work. At the end of the day, it's a vehicle from 1988, so there's always going to be some work to be done it. But you'd be getting a pretty solid vehicle with a lot of useful features and those are pricey these days.
She's clean... but 18k and it's not even 4x4
