Freelander as an overland vehicle?

Steve sent me his Land Rover Experience training certificate. It indicates Level One, Instructor Training

Unless it was some elaborate counterfeit, including signatures of two instructors, it appears to be legit. . .

This simply means that he was "trained" and that's it. Does not signify that he is a "certified trainer" of any type......Land Rover or not.

I am sure Steve is a decent enough guy, knows the LR product, etc, but I've also seen him spew gobs of misinformation all over the web.

He reaps what he sows.

Was it an XD? Asking because I could have sworn I saw one for sale about a year ago. Can't remember what board though... Oh, in the states. Had pictures and everything.

Stephen Peters aka SafariRover, had a 1997 XD for sale about a year or year and half ago. It had a 300Tdi. It was on ebay and posted for sale on several forums before he sold it.

Garret,

Nice to see you are working with Bruce. Solid guy.

Been working with Bruce for well over a year now doing mostly military training (training for 5 years total) and some trips to Iceland. Hopefully going to ramp up some of the "overland" trips in the future. Newfoundland/Lab, Mongolia, etc.

Developing a new location for Overland Experts here in VA that will be mostly civilian/military off-road training.

Yeh he's a good guy with some great experience.

Send us your training schedule, and we will post it up on the forum. Bruce has conducted several training courses for members here.

Mongolia - nice. Have you contacted Drive Mongolia? They may be a good resource in-country for vehicle hire, etc.

Bruce mentioned the VA division. Best of luck with it.

Sounds like Steve wasn't lying at all. He recieved training as an instructor? "Certified Trainer". Semantics. What, pray tell, is the *factual* difference?

I don't know Steve, don't have a dog in this fight, other than having been accused of being a liar myself by one or two of the same dimwits, and having to post video evidence to back my claims, which was then criticized of being not what I said it was, only because the commenter didn't even know what he was looking at.

I work with Bruce, and other schools - we TRAIN you we don't CERTIFY you as INSTRUCTORS. See the difference? Still think it's semantics?

I am not trying to play a word game but he is right .. if you Train me as an Instructor and upon completion of my Trainning you issue a Certificate that states to that , it is a Certification no semantics.

Like lets say:

EMMODG School or Off Road

By the present we Certify that XYZ
has completed an Off Road Program
for Instructors.

This 30 day of February 2009

Just an opinion and PLEASE I do not endorse Mr. Young's statements made throughout the years he has been online.

He is not a "certified trainer". He completed level one training. Whatever that is...........by an instructor. That does not make you a certified instructor or even an instructor for that matter.

I suppose anyone can call them selves just about anything anyhow.

I take offense to this a bit more than most because this is what I do for a living. I didn't get "level one training" by someone, get a certificate and go home to DAP to answer phones and consider myself an instructor.

Don't take offense to to any of this, it's not worth it. Everyone with a slight clue knows that 99.9% of what SY states, claims, is certified in, has rescued, invented or owned is a imaginary. When asked for back up, he always comes with a little something, that really in the end is just part of the facade. How anyone with even the slightest love for a Land Rover can claim he has owned a NAS D110 and not know it's number is beyond me. Every single owner I know would probably tattoo it somewhere if there wife's would let them. And wasn't this the guy who was driving around MAR one year with a gun on hip, playin' sheriff?

Anyway's, this is a place I've lurked for years, never posted, but had to call out some of the BS on the TD5 swap...

hopefully this will just go away...
