GAP Diagnostic– new products / IIDTool update announcement 12/2013

Now that I have a RRS to go along with my DII, the usefulness of this and my curiosity has expanded.

Pipedream here, but may as well throw this out there. Is there a way for this to replicate all screens from the navigation dvd on an iPad too? That way I can just mount an iPad mini right in front of the nav screen and use that for everything - diagnostics, navigation, 4x4 screen, music, etc.

Or better yet, to have the "pretty" screens available on the BT model display right on the LR navigation screen (rather than the computer in the dash)? I'm still trying to wrap my head around all of the options, how this looks and works, etc as I don't have the tool yet (waiting for the Pro and/or the boss to give me permission to start playing with her RRS).

Thanks again.

Hi jh,
Let me start out by saying that I - we - do not consider ideas such as this a pipe dream. All of us are LR enthusiasts (that's how GAP started) and we all think through "wouldn't it be cool if we could..." scenarios regularly.

That said, we have not delved deeply into the MOST bus (infotainment bus). It has not been necessary for what we do and would be very work intensive to get further into. So you will likely not be able to realize either of your ideas w/ our products in the very near future.

We are working on a special module to cater to more extensive off road use of modern, electronically controlled LR's. We are working on different integration concepts. We'll see what happens further down the line...

And please don't hesitate to give us critique and ideas. It helps us make our products better for everyone.

Could someone point me to how to buy the IIDTool? I've supplied my contact info on britpart.com with crickets so far. Perhaps I am late to the party.

Hello Everyone,

I am going to e-mail Patrick, but wanted to post my question on this thread as well. I installed an ARB front bumper yesterday on my 2013 LR4 and chose not to use my front parking sensors, so I just zip tied them within the bumper in hopes that I could just deactivate them with my IIDTool. I went to the CCF settings and selected PAM (parking aid monitoring) and then changed it to "rear".

Once it was complete, I noticed that the front sensors were still going off - did I do something wrong or is there a way I can shut off the front sensors only?

If you haven't already, email their support... I received a reply with an issue I had very quickly <1hr, on several different occasions

I did and Patrick was really fast. He told me that on 2012+ models they had to do a firmware update to be able to disable the rear sensors, so he sent that over to me and I will hopefully do it tonight.

Hi David,
Software changes by LR... Normal and to be expected, but they do catch us out at times.
The L405 (new RR) had numerous SW changes made from MY 2013 to 2014 - and the L494 (RRS) had the same switch in SW from very early production vehicles to somewhat later production vehicles despite the fact that these were all MY 2014. Things like this keep Patrick and Christian from just sitting around with their feet up on their desks like they usually do.

Please let us know if all goes smoothly with the update.

I was able to successfully disable the front sensors with no problem at all - thanks so much to Patrick for his excellent help.

I have to admit I was a bit scared, as when I restarted the engine it flashed "SERVICE REQUIRED" for a couple seconds and then went off. The CCF re-write went great, no problems (and I did not think it would affect the service interval system), then I remembered my truck is a year old next month, so it's the normal flash about a month before 1 year or 15,000 mile (which ever comes first) for the service. Just the timing after the CCF re-write scared me! ;-)
