What do you think your load capacity will be?

I am not sure on the new JK rack. My tollerances to the hard top will be very close. I hope to be able to use it for the following. Transporting Sea Kayaks atleast 2 (100 pounds). I want to be able to use it as a viewing plateform for the Baja races. This means my brother and I standing and sitting on top(375 pounds). Then there is the possibility of moving the RTT to the JK. I also built it to take on my shopping chores at Home Depot. The rack on the TJ held 12 bags of wet bark up there. I think that was about the max. Here is a shot of that rack.

Very unique. Your JK is going to be something to see when it's all said and done.

12 bags of wet bark.....?

12 bags of mulch(bark) for the front yard, 2 cubic feet each. I don't know the weight off hand but I sure could feel it up top.

Cross Members Rack

Here are the cross members tacked in place. The rack is very close to the roof but I think it is going to work. By the way I can still remove the front hard top panels.

Here is how the cross members will be disconnected. Mainly used at the rear for easy removal of the hard top.

Cross bar clearance. Hard top panels just squeeze out.

This photograph shows a side profile of the front bar. I located it further back on this rack so that I can make a fairing. I am going to try a rack pad at first. This should take up the space between the hardtop and the rack. Eliminating the small amount of wind noise that is present. This could make it hard to get the front hard top panels off. If so I will look at some sort of plastic fairing similar to Yakima's.

Are you going to be done before the Trophy?

Are you doing this Fab yourself?.....Clean bends by the way!......You must have a nice shop!

I have been thinking of making a rack like that for my Tacoma.

I hope to have it done by the Trophy. Along with alot of other things(Radio's).

The Fab work is being done by Joe and www.joehauler.com. Joe is a great guy with alot of baja experience. We are working together to build this rack.

Looking forward to seeing your nice Tacoma at the Trophy.

Love your JK And the painted black bridgers are awesome! I noticed that your tires do not stick out past your flares, and they are 12.5 wide MTR correct? with 4.6" backspacing on the AEV... weird because some tires stick out with this combo and urs don't.. any thoughts?

The tires are Goodyear MTR's 315-75-16. You are correct they do not stick out. This is the reason I went with AEV. They make wheels specifically for the JK. I love the Black too. Thanks for the comments.
