nwoods I have a suggestion for you, to make the storage cubby more useful, there is a company that makes a deeper tub that replaces the factory tray.

Looks like a great product but I currently have the stock exhaust. I believe you need to relocate it in order for the new tub to fit. Thanks for the idea!

So yes the weight is there but I feel for my application the safety of a secure load out weighs the weight of the wood. Oh and here is what it weighs at the present moment 25 lbs. for the floor and 9 lbs. for each side(fender well).

What type of plywood did you use ? I am now considering a similar floor for the back of the 80 series, and possibly the tailgate as well. Thanks for sharing such detailed pictures of your projects.

I used 5'x5' Baltic Birch. Cost was $29 and change out the door per sheet. I built the whole project with 2 sheets.

I believe the reason it looks so good is the Line-X. There is no way I would get this same result with a do it yourself application.

Wow that's a pretty good idea, and much lighter as well! The JK industry is certainly booming. That would make a lot of sense.

I have thought about contacting them about there material. It could be a nice combination. Now if I could only find individuals that wanted to buy this product at an outrageous price. Just for kicks here is a quick break down of pricing that I have into it.

Baltic Birch $29 a sheet - 2 sheets used.
West Marine locking pull tabs $33 a piece - 3 used.
Line-X $250
Stainless bolts and hardware $20

As you can see Materials alone cost close to $450

Well worth it to me but in order to make a dime I am thinking you are going to have to pay a small fortune.

Does lining the wood in line-x (or any bed liner for that matter) seal the wood? So when it gets wet it doesn't warp?

Yes the Line-X should seal the wood. The only problem is I only Line-X the top do to cost and material thickness/weight. I coated the bottom with Duplicolor bed liner from a spray can.


Here are some photographs of my rock lights. Sorry about the small photographs Shutterfly downsized them for some reason.

Here is the front driver side light. It is an inexpensive 12 volt light. I am debating upgrading them to LED.

The center one is mounted to an existing threaded hole on the transfer case.

What's next you ask. Well my boys are pretty stoked on there Halloween costumes. Secret Agent Lego Men.
