Geotrek Verus sprinter box camper

We have the Rossmonster Havn, Nomad Euphoria, OVP Tahoma and let’s welcome the 4th player in this new very exciting type of camper: Sprinter and Ford E box campers. The Geotrek Verus biggest difference with the other 3 is the price: $195K, instead of $300K.

Specs are not bad but there are some compromises: less robust Ecoflow system instead of Victron, basic water heater and plumbing with also less capacity (I realized Geotrek does not even have a water gauge level on their $140K vans, when customers requested the feature on Facebook they said they would add a light close to the tank - lol). Diesel heater under front seat but no ducts (only comes out below front seat). Wood cabinetry instead of aluminum.
Most importantly, no offroad component (on their van the offroad package is $10K) unlike the competition

At the end of the day, it’s still a fantastic product when you consider the price because even with adding the offroad package and a few options to come closer to the competition spec, you might be at $220. They also have an option for 2 belted seats for families, however they want to implement a pop up tent for the extra sleeping space which is a terrible idea (not only a pop up is expensive, and you buy a box campers for insulation properties, not to kill such insulation with a pop up). They should copy OVP and do a cab over fold down bed option for families. Super simple and effective solution.

Let’s hope for more competition. At $300K+ those campers are in a different league than regular sprinter/transit builds, but at $200K this is priced competitively with such vans. This creates a real alternative for people looking to buy a 4 season camper and want more space than a van while keeping decent offroad capabilities and excellent insulation.

AEONrv $225k, 110+ vehicles on the road now, building for the last four years, I doubt Nomad and the Havn have more than a few vehicles on the road.

Saw one of those up the street from my sister’s house in Cali over Thanksgiving. Very impressive from the outside and online. Tried to get a look inside, but owner wasn’t around.

The AEON is well known, but it’s a transit. The offering I was comparing above is for the Sprinter.
Keep in mind the AEON has 30" tires instead of 33" tires for all of the Sprinter based platforms above. The AEON has cheap laminate cabinet (versus solid bamboo or aluminum for the others). Plenty of issues reported by their users on the FB group including the outside AC box dropping multiple times, just by driving on a gravel road. For me, the Geotrek looks better value.

I didn't see a whole lot of details on the website. $200k is fairly competitive for a composite box on all-wheel drive chassis. Especially if the specs they provide are for their base model. However I suspect that the specs they provide are optional, at the base model will be quite a bit lower spec.

Obviously these rigs are about trade-offs, but, The focus on a larger bath, leaves quite a bit to be desired for a dinette-like space.

They go over it pretty well in the videos, but if that isn't the base model, then we really don't know price.

It’s based on their existing sprinter van. They have a build and price tool, and for 10K it’s the tires wheels and van compass package
Per the video the Verus has a different lift, not Van Compass. Nabrika? ... is what it sounded like. And super singles replacing duallies, as they use the 3500 chassis.

They really should be using the 4500 sprinter chassis instead of the 3500. The 3500 is almost certainly going to be overweight with a full featured build and typical gear load.

Payload (GVWR) is the kryptonite of all these Sprinter builds. Great footprint just not enough OCCC left once you put a house and people on it. If Merc could add ~1000# more payload it’d be an incredible platform.

The standard model has super singles, KO3 included. It has basic suspension that won’t do in the wind and offroad. They will offer an upgrade package.
Many of the systems such as the 10kwh battery are standard. At 195K, even if you add 20K of options it will still be well below the competition.
Biggest drawback is the layout IMO compared to the OVP.

It doesn't appear the AWD is an option on the 4500. Payload is 5,000 lbs on the 3500.

I believe in Europe its possible to get the AWD on the 4500 chassis. However the builders have to sign some type of waver due to the limited front axle load available. I guess MB doesn't want to deal with the warranty and reliability issues with many RV builders in the USA for that reason?

I was told by a dealer last year that the 4500 with AWD was supposed to be available this year in the states, but I guess they were wrong.

If I was in the market, the Ecoflow system would be a deal breaker for me. I have heard of quite a few reliability issues, often due to software. The high idle consumption, and lack of repair parts are a problem to. You can't just replace an inverter (for major brands they actually sell internal parts), if the unit has issues, you are replacing a batter or the main power unit, often with weeks of downtime waiting for warranty replacements.
