Gladiator Pop-Up Pass Through Camper Build

One other nice thing about a cheap tarp/tent. When the National Forest doesn't accept reservations for that beautiful camp site you finally found in the mountains, you can mark your spot with the tarp when you get there in the morning. Then take your rig exploring for the rest of the day.

Check out this DIY 270 Awning. Looks nice.
ITTOG, with your welding skills, I'm looking forward to your version of this DIY awning! It would be sweet on that camper you're building. Just have them sew up an awning, while they're sewing the pop up! (y)

I've had too much coffee this morning. I'm thinking that if I cut a quarter section out of this 13ft. diameter patio umbrella material, throw in a center hinge and some fiberglass rods for ribs, I'll have a very light weight, extremely cheap DIY 270 awning. I love coming up with DIY solutions from cheap materials.

Where I camp there isn't enough room to deploy an awning. The trees are too thick. I usually have trees within 1' on both sides of the truck. I will deploy a tarp out the back though. Probably between 6 to 10' out. If 10' out it will go over part of my trailer where I store some items.

I'm heading out on a 3,000 mile trip through Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, and Kansas this week. Looks like everything fits nicely under my camper seats and in the kitchen cabinet.

Oh wow, the trip has begun. Other than the towers it looks like a great spot. Where they cellular towers?

Have a safe trip!

This is Buffalo Gap National Grasslands. It’s the highest point for miles with great views. The communication towers in the background were hit by lighting the night before I got here. It scared the gebies out of the campers here.

It’s a great free spot. I’m sitting here now typing…
