Either way Chris, you'll be well within the load ratings of either tire.
If you tell me what size you're looking at, I can tell you the exact rating (in pounds) straight from Goodyear.
Chances are with the 10-ply, you'll get a bit more resistance to cutting, and it wil likely get you a few more miles of tread life as well.
(Tread depth from the factory might be different also.)
But, the 10-plies will also ride rougher/stiffer.
Remember, an E rated tire was designed around the weight and suspension capabilities of a 1-ton diesel truck that weighs 7000/8000 pounds out of the box, and can tow 15,000 pounds.

I went form load E 235/85s to load C 265/75s and the ride in night and day better. The load E's on my Tacoma were tough as nails but rode like wagon wheels and they didn't air down very well. I am a little concerned about the sidewalls with the load C's but my thinking is most people out there with AT's are on load C's so they can't be all bad.

6 and 10-ply tires don't actually have 6 or 10 plies.
That's a bit of a misconception and the ply rating system goes back to when all tires that were made, were bias ply.
Nowadays with radial construction, the higher the ply rating generally means the heavier the cords are within the construction, and also how densely the cords are spaced.
Basically, the higher the load rating, the more actual material there and the thicker that material is, but it does NOT have more layers of material.
That's why I say you'll likely have "some" additional protection from punctures, and added longevity. That's also the reason the E tire is stiffer than a C tire.

I am loving my Duratracs. They are the perfect answer to my needs, a little more aggressive than the BFG AT's yet still an all terrain. Add in the snow rating, plenty of sipes for wet roads and awesome looks and you have a winner. To top it all off, Tread Lightly members get a $100 rebate on Goodyear tires.
