Got my license but never use it

for me i got my tech license because i volunteered at work (then a public university) as a pseudo first responder.

we were trained on cpr, first aid, etc. we decided to use ham radios since FRS wasnt gonna cut it so work paid for materials and license fees.

anyways, i never was into chatting on the air and stuff.

what i did end up doing was volunteering for events like bike rides, and car rally events. these are listed under public service, IIRC. first event i worked was a rally event and learned my radio that week.

soon i volunteered for local bike rides and events. those were cool.

Yeah, I hardly use mine, and I HAVE a general. Got it because I was gonna be the radio dude on a cruise, but it fell through.... So now I'm trying to get energized and get with it. As long as I'm out in the boonies it would be fun to make some contacts. And useful in an emergency. Maybe I'll end up with the new Icom when it gets licensed....

Meanwhile, and as a bump, this weekend is Field Day so anyone interested in meeting up with hams can probably find a local event. I'll try to get out.
