Hello Jesse A
Have enjoyed reading your posts. We were in Sedona a couple of years ago, and stayed over night the week before Memorial Day. I'm sure your weather was great as was ours. I'd like to ask do you have a map of the route, it's so beautiful and I'd like to take the wife back, and do a little exploring..
thanks Russ
I have a few small routes but not everything, we did schnebly hill, broken arrow, and went down to jerome az. If i can help you let me know, i can send you the tracks i have.

Then we headed towards lake tahoe, just cruised through it was way too busy. Neither of us had seen reno so we headed that way and stoped off at great basin brewing.

Nice truck!
Always have loved RAM.

I would like to ask you some question if you don't mind.

Why did you go with diesel?
To my knowledge in HD trucks gas truck get almost the same mpg as diesels one unless you pull some heavy trailers. I am getting familiar with HD trucks and reading a lot of forums. Everyone says that unless you pull something big a gas is the way to go.
I just wonna know if it's true or not. I love diesel more.

What the best and average mpg you've ever got?

We love the truck and the diesel! My main reason was the range, the i never have to bring spare fuel. My buddy has a power wagon and he always brings 15 gallons.

I have also always wanted a diesel. Yes they cost more but will have a much higher resale value.

The jake brake/ exhaust brake is also an added bonus, saves on the brakes, helps with stopping i love it. We came down coyote flats this past trip, 4low 1st gear with the exhaust brake on and the truck pretty much came to a compete stop, great added insurance.

Just my .02 would never go back to gas imo.

Now almost everything on internet forums should be taken with a grain of salt, but if you read the owner experiences and compile it with other available data (TFL did some mpg tests for the diesel HD's) you'll find that it's not uncommon for diesel HD's can get low 20's on the highway. Obviously, a lot of things factor into those results (axle ratio, driving style, SRW vs DRW, cab configuration, tire size, ect.). HD gasoline rigs are lucky to break mid teens on the highway. So there is a definite mpg advantage for diesel....though I'm not necessarily saying its cheaper to own, as there are additional maintenance issues for diesel that aren't relevant to a gasoline rig.
