Lastly I want to figure out how to wire the stock Blazer tail/brake lights so I can plug them into the 4 pin of the RV so I can ditch the magnetic trailer lights.

I recommend these diodes from Roadmaster:

Essentially, you cut the factory wiring going to the taillight, then splice one diode in on each side. You will have two inputs and one output: one input is the factory wiring and the other input is from the 4-way from the motorhome. The output goes to the taillight. Makes it a cinch and keeps everything working properly so there's no backfeeding through the turn signal switch. Simply run a dedicated, permanent flat 4 wire from the front of the Blazer to the rear, and then use a short quick-disconnect cable between the front of the Blazer and the rear of the motorhome.

You don't need a diode on the clearance/running circuit, as it can power up all the clearance/running lights on the Blazer with no problem.

Once I got it back from powder I mounted the winch and started to test fit the bumper.

The winch didn't clear the "wings" of the Engineered Vintage frame plates so I had to cut them down. Thankfully I was able to cut them flush to the frame rails without getting rid of any mounting holes I was planning to use.

Here they are trimmed, painted and mounted back up.

I picked up a cheap 12,000lb Badlands winch from Harbor Freight that has a removable control box so I mounted that to the frame and wired it all up. The winch hangs upside down but its 2 1/2" higher up than the Engineered Vintage mount so the "bottom" of the winch sits higher than the bottom of the frame rails which was the goal all along. In the future Ill build a bolt-on skid plate for under the winch that has a cutout for the free spool lever.

And the final result. I love it so much!

I love it as well. That's a damn nice looking bumper build you did there!

Anyway, my mom found a picture of me and my dad with the truck that started my love for squarebodies. This is some time around 1990. Dad bought the truck new and it was his favorite thing ever. It was done up all custom by a conversion company whos name I cant recall, it wasnt Geneva. It had engraved woodwork all throughout the inside depicting scenes of ducks on a pond. It was so incredible.

Sweet rig! I absolutely love the old square bodies with conversions. I would like to have a crew cab C/K30 Western Hauler edition myself.

Well I have some unfortunate news. Nothing bad happened to the truck but my account here on Expedition Portal was hacked. Back in March someone took over my account, deleted my entire history on Expo Portal and listed scam ads in the classifieds. Ive been working with the tech team here to try resurrecting some of my accounts history, with some success. This thread seems to be mostly intact. Some of my other build threads are missing pictures or posts or entire pages. Im really saddened by this but things seem back to normal now. Ive started trying to contact the people that were trying to buy stuff from the fake ads so I can apologize but its taking a while to get through the list and you can only start a private conversation on this forum every 5 minutes or something like that.

Anyway, Im really glad to be back and PSA, change your password.

Heres another fun one. So I got in the truck this morning, rolled the windows down, it started raining so I rolled them up and turned the wipers on. Drove to the coffee shop and it stopped raining so I rolled the windows down again. Get my coffee get back in the truck, drive to my shop and the windows wont roll up.

Pull the door panel, inspect the switch, looks new inside, still nothing. So I jump the wires to the motor(at the switch) and both windows roll up just fine. Whats weird is, there is power at the switch, verified by multimeter. Both driver and passenger door window switches are relatively new. Theres something going on in between the window switches. Is there a power window relay somewhere that I cant find?

Even if there is a relay, that doesnt really explain my problem because there is power at the switch. The red wire is the hot coming in, it has power when ignition is on. The switch seems to be in good working order, why would it not work? Bad ground? Im lost.

Also, of course there are no window switches in stock in Phoenix for a 1978 Blazer. There are for newer trucks but they have 6 pins in the back instead of 5 like mine. Im tempted to pick one up and see if i can make it work anyway.

Ok so Im thinking the issue is a bad ground. I tried the meter on it again while pressing the switches and voltage drops to zero when you press the switch up or down. I also tried something else to check the switches. On the passenger side the window switch is identical to the power door lock switch. So I tossed the "window" switch onto the "door lock" wiring and it worked! That tells me the switch works. Yay electrical gremlins!!! Ill probably start by looking for bad wires in the loom where it goes through the door because it bends a lot there.
