I answer in your text in CAPS

It looks like a rear lowering motorcycle carrier was installed by GXV and since removed. Is that the case? IT IS THE OPPOSITE. THE PICTURES WITH COORED STCIKERS AND WITHOUT MOTORBIKE RACK ARE WHEN I BOUGH FROM GXV IN MISSOURI. THERE IS A SPECIAL RACK SPECIALLY DEDIGNED AND MANUFACTURED FOR

And is the total length stated in the document including it and/or the rear under-crash protection bar, or to just the rear of the rear wall of the cabin? THE PROTECIOON BAR IS A NEED IN EUROPE. THE WHOLE THING HAS BEEN REGULAR HOMOLOGATED AND REGISTERED.

Also, what is the total height to top of air conditioner from ground? FEW CM OVER 4 METERS

Also looks like the spare tire was relocated from a slot under the rear storage compartment to the front bumper around the front winch, is that because the rear under-crash protection bar was shortened or another reason? AGAIN IT IS THE OPPOSITE. THE PICTURES YOU LOOK AT ARE AS I SAID THE ORIGNAL TRACK FROM GXV THE FRONT WHEEL HAD NO SENSE THERE. AND COULD NOT HAVE WINCH WITH IT

Also, the info sheet indicates that this has the factory central tire air inflation system, but not exactly clear from that info or the photos--can you confirm? TES I CONFIRM. PERMANENT TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING AND INFLATION DEFLATION SYSTEM PER AXLE OR 4 WHEELS TOGETHER

Thank you. YOU ARE WELCOME
Thank you, appreciate the answers.

So, what is the offered price and are you up for negotiations? Also, what 's the horsepower of the engine, and I also would like to see a specs sheet if possible.
The engine specs are in the spec sheets. Having driven a NA U500, I can attest that they have no problem getting up to highway speed and easily accelerating to pass at highway speeds. I test drove one in Florida so have no idea how they'd do on hills, but it is a tremendously torque'y engine so have no doubt that it could climb a wall and maintain speeds well on hills.

There are many Youtube video's about driving the U500 USA version. Highway speeds is just fine.

Hello. Yes, even if not designed for highways it well maintains a highway speed even if horsepower is not one of its strenght. On a climbing highway, because of its weigth (around 13 Tons) it will not maintain the flat road speed.

Your are fully right regarding torke. It has an impressive torke. And you will climb a wall.

Just wanted to jump in here for those interested.

Seller Henri has poured his heart and soul into upgrading the GXV and the finished product is outstanding. If you have any questions, he's an absolute gent with a LOT of overlanding experience in an array of vehicles ( - Henri it would be cool if you could upload some of the photos from your other travels/vehicles).

If you can't get hold of Henri (he's often not online for health reasons) then I will help to answer questions.

Thank you very much for your comment Jack. I will do my best to answer all questions needed and will follw your suggestionand will uploadsome pictures of the previous rigs i had in the past when I still was able to overland. The ones that offered me probably the best moments of my life.

thank you very much Jack. And thanks to all of our overlanding friends.

Hello all.

following the suggestion of Jack Mac, i will proceed in the next days posting a few picts and brief comments on the rigs I had in the past.

Today, just the very first one. From 1990 !!! near 40 years now!!!! :(

I alway thought that one should, first, learn, then practice, and then relearn again, before going a step further. I always applied this principle to everything in life, and it could not be different for off-road driving and overlanding.

That's why I started with a terrible but expremely cheap, and nice 4WD vehicle by the time i bought it: a terrible Lada Niva. But even if russian, with just an italian (Fiat) 1,6 l gasoline engine, it had quite good capacifiies for pure off road practice. Don't speak about driving a normal road or highway where even biclycles could drive faster :) !!!! . But it was an exceptional tool for learning, even without concern about price for repairing what you break!!!. You could make a lot of mistakes for a short price !!!! :)

the only really terrible issue (that is why I sold it very qyiclkly) is that it has not a partitioned fuel tank, so gasoline moves one side to the other producing gasoline vapors and the smell being inside the vehicle in movement was absolutly insane :(

I used the Lada without any single modification.

000214-2.jpg

Because this period of my life is so long time ago and I had it for a short period of time, i do not even have any digital picture of my old Lada. But post here a couple I got from intenet, same colour. But with this vehcicle I did my alsmost first route, and probably the most dangerous one ever in my life. I was such a novice that I stood behind an Italian guy who was there with a fairly large van, an American International, and of course, if he could pass, so could I !!!! A mountain road, quite old mining road, literally carved into the rock, barely 2 meters wide, a rock wall on the right and a 200m cliff on the left. You could not get out of the vehicle through any of the doors in several steps along the way.

I will later come back with the next rig: a Defender.

note: this picts are not my car. They are form internet and are almost like mine.

Hazing and the risk of rookies!!!! But, driving a Lada Niva behind a machine like that, (here is a photo of one like I remember was similar to the Italian guy vehicle), it was clear that,...

Brief abstract

This is a practically new expedition vehicle (15 Tons max), registered in the European Union, as it has never been used for health reasons of its owner. It has the important peculiarity of having originally been imported into the USA at its origin, and with a USA registration when it was built by GXV, so it does not require payment of tariffs or taxes in the case of re-importing or wanting to register it again in the USA. Registered as mobile-home, so does not require a tachograph.

As for the vehicle itself, it is a high-end Unimog U500 version with almost all the extras already available as standard by Mercedes Benz, including air conditioning, Webasto heater, VarioPilot LEFT-HAND / RIGHT-HAND DRIVE driving system that allows driving the right or left hand, permanent 4x4 transmission with central, rear and front differentials, and with independent central, rear and front differential locks, 3 gear shift levels (road, low reduction and super-low reduction), multiple normal and emergency shifting systems, tire pressure control system, with pressure inflation and deflation system, for each axle independently, or for all 4 wheels at the same time, stopped or while driving, with Michelin XZL 395/85 R20 161J off-Road tires.

It includes a fully equipped living module for long-term living, multiple service and security systems, solar panels, a Fisher Panda diesel generator, a double diesel tank (400 Liters) and a large fresh water tank, and a rear motorcycle rack operated by an electric winch (the motorcycle is not included). It has a queen-size bed with an excellent mattress, multiple interior and exterior storage spaces, air conditioning, heating, a full bathroom with a shower and high-quality teak furniture, a Webasto diesel kitchen, a very spacious refrigerator and freezer, etc. All the equipment on this expedition vehicle is described in the specific attached sheets and the manuals for each and every piece of equipment.

The living and expeditions module

The housing module is designed and built with the highest quality, the best equipment, excellent ventilation, security systems, and exceptional insulation even in adverse climates.

It has redundant systems for essential services such as heating, electricity and hot water. The electrical and battery system of the living module can be charged using 4 systems: by the Unimog's alternator while running, or connected to fixed external electrical networks (both 125V and 220V depending on the country), or by solar panels on the roof, or by the Fisher Panda diesel generator. Outback Chargers/Inverters and Bep Marine and Marinco equipment’s.

1738168582096.png
1738168599998.png

It has plenty of internal and external space and drawers for storing personal items, clothes, food, and other belongings. It has a queen-size bed with a large, quality mattress. It also has an in-house radio CD, television, and an 8-inch screen for perimeter surveillance of the vehicle with 4 cameras.

1738168659199.png
1738168673084.png

The kitchen is Webasto Diesel, with a ceramic hob and a system for high-altitude operation. The sink is stainless steel and includes an extra tap for filtered drinking water. It has covers that allow the sink to be closed and a work area for the kitchen to be provided. It includes a microwave with grill. The refrigerator is very spacious and has double drawers (fridge and freezer). The decision has been made that the vehicle should not have gas, since the connections and systems are not homogeneous in the different countries and always end up being a problem.
