Halloween Assignment - My 9th and 10th graders

So, quite a few of them took the Halloween Extra Credit Assignment, and their results are fairly interesting.

Here were the requirements:

1. Purely voluntary...this is 'extra' credit mind you...
2. How much you do...again, up to you. Do a little, get a little extra credit...do a lot, get a LOT of extra credit. Don't let this take up time away from other classes or other assignments for me. It's EXTRA...as in, to be done with everything else is already done.
3. You must photograph in a cemetery.
4. You must include people in your images.
5. You must use slow shutter speeds.
6. You must print and post to your blog.
7. You must turn these in *by* Haloween.
8. You must have fun with this.
9. You must respect the dead.

Here were the results:

I think that this will have to become a yearly tradition...

Crap. Let me do some work in the yard and I'll get back at this thread later on. I need to get some straw and work on the chicken coop and till the garden. What a buzz-kill man!

Fixed...uploaded...viewable.

I *know* my students would appreciate some feedback. If you have a minute and have anything you'd like them to hear (good OR bad...), please share it. They are used to me being honest with them, so let's have it!

Happy Halloween!

i like the one with "the hand" by Sierra Kane, the focus on the hand is really great. haha :) also the other one with the 3 tombstones is cool, but weird because the center one has my initials on it:)

Wow, glad to see my unintended idea went somewhere.

You have some seriously talented kids(or a good teacher)

I noticed that most of them shot in black and white...or at least converted them to black and white. Is this a personal choice or a style you have spent a lot of time teaching them? Either way in that particular assignment it seems to work out best.

Oh and yeah, the hand shot is awesome however I noticed that it differs from the rest of them because there is not blurry motion in that image.

The shot with the young girl sitting beside the glowing grave marker is also interesting as I'm trying to figure out how the photographer either lit only the marker or pushed the image enough to over expose the marker but not the rest.
