i got nothin but people here. stick them in your desert. i'll sent you a co2 tank as a thank you, i have quite a few.

Nah, we're already afraid enough of dem boat people they won't take anymore, the mining companies'll have em though if you can get them to work underground for $2.50 an hour :)

. Your absolutely right they last a long time for tire inflates, run air tools and it is a different story. We do a couple big river tube floating trips each year, I made the mistake of trying to use CO2 for filling of tubes one time... that didn't end well, the rubber/plastic around the fill port on the tubes literally froze and shattered in the first few minutes of filling. Thankfully we started with the cheapie tube :D

"50-70 inflates", perhaps if your running 30" tires and the largest tank. My experience (rigs with 33-35" tires) is more like 5-6 full inflates (4 tires going from say 15-20psi to 35-40 psi). Still not bad as it would be a rare trip to deflate/inflate that many times on a single trip but then your back at the soda re-filler Monday if your back out the following weekend. Works for some. I use my compressor for tire inflation, CO2 for air tools.

Since your CO2 works so well for you, plumb it to your new ARB's, easily done with under $20 worth of parts.

20psi difference i my fj40 on 33's gets thereabouts of 10 trips. so i'll go 40 tires. maybe its your elevation :)

how about i push a button and the physics of an electromagnetic field does the work.

you should carry these, set yourself apart, you would sell quite a few. everyone has arb's drop ship service.

ARB hasn't dropped shipped lockers for several years or more, and we've stocked them for over 20. We get a weekely/bi-weekely truck order from ARB consisting of 2-4 pallets, lockers don't take up much space. When we ship you your new locker out it will include a personalized note from me :D

I'd stock the Harrop if there was genuine interest, as is now I've never had a single call for one, I'll have to ask Bryce if he has had any inquiries. I've seen them in Aus, talked to shops that deal with them over there, and read about them on Mud, etc but literally I've never had a single call for one. If/when they start hitting high trouble-free miles in Aus and the price reaches a point it competes and thus there is demand, I'd gladly offer them. We ran the Eaton D60 version when they were still pretty new on my partners rock-crawler in the 2005-06 timeframe when competitive crawling was all the rage. There were some issues and competitors are yet to go back to them to this day. The issue at the time was the stator spinning in the housing and thus ripping the wiring out. Along with that they took nearly 1/2 rotation of a tire to engage which was troublesome for rock-crawling though a non-issue for a 100 Series setup. I know the US Eaton applications have gone through a complete revision since that time and the engagement design was fixed and I can only assume the stator too. But without 100k mile users reporting it's really hard to say and like you I found some known failures at low miles though it's entirely impossible to know if those were install related.

Run em' your not going to get a personal note from me but perhaps you'll be my 100k mile user with good results :D

no interest cause no one can get them into the US at a competitive price. its like microsoft windows, it took years to beak that market grip.

if you build it, they will come. hopefully.

i got mine from Iron Pig. i recall reading the exorbitant "shipping and handling" fee, and a post mark from out west. i called. i asked how difficult it was to pack them.

So Zimm you ended up getting a Harrop locker from Iron Pig? Let us know how it goes. Also, you can use my air compressor whenever your CO2 tank runs out ;)

I'd be interested in knowing how you go with them too, my local guy supplies both. I don't have enough experience with either product to have any biases (but I'll still be running that compressor though ;) )

I dunno much how the business side of stocking these would go, but to be honest, the reason a guy like me wouldn't have given you call is that they are virtually unheard of. We've all heard about the elocked dana stuff, but until about a month ago, I never knew there was any toyota options out there, let alone IFS toyota stuff. I'm sure its common knowledge in Aus, but here, it hasn't made the rounds on any of the mini truck stuff, maybe cruiser forums are different. But, according to Harrop, they do produce a locker that fits the late model IFS in Taco's and 4runners, both third gen/1st gen tacoma, and later models.

However, I've been researching these, and it looks like they are similar to ARB in that they are a carrier replacement, not a full on new housing with actuator. I love ARBs, and would get one, but would rather replace the stupidly weak housing, which I imagine is a much different concern than the 100 guys have, which is that 100's can have weak carriers. It does not look like these replace the housing, which was my interest in these over the ARB's. Too bad.

has anyone seen them used in like the "king of hammers race" etc any opinions there?

Certainly not in a Toyota housing, or at least not that i've seen on Pirate builds. Maybe someone is. More likely you'd see it in a d60 or so, but even then, haven't seen it. Not saying its not out there, but I'd be surprised.

Fair enough and your right, name market awareness isn't out there. Again when we see high mile trouble-free units in Aus or we get a set to use in one of our project to verify longevity, we may carry them. We are not married to any one brand and in fact stock several different brands of lockers, our goal is simply high-quality and tested products.

What axles are you working with?

Sorry, its a 4runner, not a cruiser. I guess I never specified. So yeah, its the stock 7.5" front end.

For me, I had ARB's in my old runner and had 75 k trouble free miles in both the front and rear, and love them. Installed them myself so there was never any air or oil leak issues.

That was the older style housing though, which could handle the abuse. Seen a number of guys shred the front gears because the clamshell allows more carrier deflection under load.

If I end up locking up the front, I'll likely go ARB. I like their new giant compressor, a buddy has one, and it is awesome. Just need to find a good place to locate it on my truck = full engine bay already! :D

Sorry. I wasn't clear. I got the arbs fo my 40 from them.

My compressor is a puma or a York with a winch motor attached. That's like, 110% duty cycle....

Co2 saves lives. It's a miracle gas.
