I posted this on NAXJa but thought maybe someone here might have some ideas also.
Got a weird one. I was on the freeway Saturday and i looked in the mirror and saw that i was making a James Bond smoke screen. I pulled over and the smoke was coming from oil on the hot exhaust. There was a small (6") puddle under the truck that looked like it was dripping from the right side of the engine. I restarted the engine and oil pressure was good, 35 psi at idle, 60 psi at 2-3000 rpm. Oil level on the dipstick was also ok. I drove it home (40 miles) and never lost pressure or had any more smoke.
I had just added oil that morning because it was low. Is there any chance i over filled it and some how Blew off the extra? Yesterday i degreased the engine and underside and then changed the oil and filter. The filter gasket looked a little deformed, maybe it leaked then reseated?
Since the smoke screen i have not had any other puddles or drips on the ground. Anyone have any ideas?
