Hitch Question

Will the hitch from a 2000 XJ fit on my 1995 XJ? I found a guy on craigslist who has 2 different hitches, but they came off of a 2000 XJ.

Thanks for the help,

Alex

Yea. I do need to get some nut-strips. I dont think my XJ has any. How did you guys take your rear bumper off? I know there are 2 bolts, but the upper bolt looks like is gonna be a major PITA to get off.

My bumpers are after market, but still use the 4 on each side bolt holes...If I recall correctly, on the stocker , you need to remove the bumper, then the brackets...

The jcr add looks like its for a pair...and only use 4 bolts per side...the ones I have fromorris, use 5 bolts per side...if you look at both adds, you will see the Morris on has one for a bolt the hole on the outside lip on the back bumper area.

I'll have to check, but as best as I recall, the hitch I got only had 4 holes for mounting. Maybe Im mistaken, but I think I remember there only being 4 holes.

I looked at the hitch earlier, and there are in fact 5 holes. :) Hey, when I bought it was dark, and cold, and i was tired. :) I just gave the man his $35 and went home. :)

Have you test fitted it yet ? See if the 5th hole would match up to the Morris nut strip ?
The hitch I picked up actually has a plat that extends up from the slideeeeeer tube and attached to the body...giving me 10 bolts holding the receiver on.

The price for the set I linked is for both sides. The bolt farthest back (near the "L") bolts to the sub-frame but not the hitch (on mine at least). The other 3 bolts hold the hitch and the "5th" bolt just mounts the hitch to the bumper bracket.
