Yeah, I can dig it!!!!! Is there any spacers between the duals to run the 255s?

YOu'll love the exhaust brake, I got one on my dually and hardly ever touch the wheel brakes.

No spacers, but I am going to get a pair. The 255s are only 1/8-1/4" apart. I would like them to be an inch at least. The problem is you can only get 1/4 or 3/8 and then they jump to 2" unless you want to cut the factory studs, which I won't do. I am trying to decide if the tires are too close to do a "pulltilbroke style" highway run. I am going to swap the flatdeck for a box on Sunday, and then pick up another Airstream (Argosy) trailer on Monday. The whole trip will be around 1000 miles. The tires are not quite touching now, and once the 1500 lb deck comes off and 400 lb (?) box goes on, I should have less bulge and more space. I still have 4 MTRs in 315/75-16 sitting in the woods, so if I find 2 more, I can make the dually a little "meathead" when the spacers show up!

Exhaust brake is fantastic. Best invention ever!

My duals are about an inch apart right now, but eventually I'd like to go to 255s. One thing you could do is find wheels off a 01 or 02 dually with disc brakes. Those wheels have more offset and will clear 255s with plenty of room.

Take some dental floss and remove those hoodscoops. Lund scoops are held on with 3M doublesided tape.

I'm getting a factory box this weekend, and will remove the scoops when I'm painting the box. I don't think I'll lose any paint taking them off, but want to be ready to fix it if I do. The floss is a great idea. I'll try that first!

Floss and fishing line make simple work of removing badges and Hood Poops.
3m adhesive remover and a rubber wheel work great to clean it up.

The new truck is great, looking forward to the build.

Floss didn't work, but I took the scoops off last friday with an Olfa knife and tidied up the gunk with a rubber stripe remover wheel I had left over from another job. It is much better.
I got the new box installed on sunday afternoon. I scored on that deal. I found a perfect box off an old guy truck that has spray in liner, and not a mark on it. I don't think he ever put anything the box! It came with a bumper and all the lights. Did I mention it was free? The guy I got it from swapped me for the ugly old flatdeck on my truck. He also did the swap over while I did a rework of the wiring on my truck.

Way to avoid blatantly asking for pics... I did take a few Andrew (pulltilbroke) style. This trip was rather 12v dually style adventure!

Typical highway scene.

Even my toast approves of the color combo on the truck!

I started painting the box, but ran out of paint. I'll finish it this weekend.

I prefer the subtle approach, and besides, threads are worthless without pics right?

Nice find on the bed. I too am eager to see what you do with the Argosy. I've been tempted myself for an older Airstream and they have quite the Expo pedigree.

And the truck was affectionately named:

"The Panda"

Lol

It's being called "Bambi" as a working title due to the hole in the grill left by antlers, and the fact that within the first hour of driving it I had the closest call ever with deer that had me literally sliding a six wheel drift through a herd that decided to cross the highway right in front of me!

It also has been "blackend" now. Not totally done as I ran out of paint, but I hope to have it finished this weekend.

As for the Airstream, I have done up two before. The new one is a 26' Argosy that we are going to completely gut and do a retro/mod interior in. We like our Airstreams to have a bit of "whimsy" so this one being an Argosy we will repaint the exterior in colors inspired by the 2 tone VW split window buses.

Some examples of paint schemes for the Argosy. You can never have too many split window bus pics!
