Might as well….:sombrero:

In addition to everything else I believe those Ford wheels you have are 8 on 170 MM whereas the Dodge lug pattern is 8 on 6.5”. That slightest difference probably didn’t help matters much.

Good info Larry. I have been looking at 4th gen Dodge Alcoas, although they are crazy pricey. I haven't checked if they are still 8 on 6.5 yet.

I don't have a Ford anymore, so what the heck, let's blame 'em!

I could not agree with you more.....:ylsmoke: I am happy that you found the problem in time....

I thought this too, but while looking for new wheels I was told that the duallies stayed with 8 on 6.5". Apparently only the srw trucks went metric. Would love to know the truth on this... I was also told the Dodge hub center is larger than Ford or GM, but that is contrary to what Kaisen mentioned, and how it looks in the pic with the wheel still on the truck.

Your 1998 Dodge Dually wheels call for 8x6.5" bolt pattern, 4.78" bore and hub-centered (SRW would be 5.15" bore and stud-centered)

'85-97 Ford Duallys are 8x6.5" bolt pattern, 4.88" bore and hub-centered, so it's just the hub bore that differs slightly (I assume these are your Alcoas)
'99-04 Super Duty Duallys are 8x170mm pattern, 4.93" bore, and hub-centered
'05-13 Super Duty Duallys are 8x200mm pattern, 5.60" bore, and hub-centered

You know what they say about "don't believe everything you read on the net"? Well, it's true. First, there are NO recalls or service bulletins for OEM Alcoas, but there is a recall for non-OEM dually wheels. Including the part number stamped on mine. Also, upon closer examination, the Alcoas have the SAME hub center as the new factory steel wheels I just bought. There must be a shadow in the picture I posted, because looking at the three Alcoas still on the truck, they are sitting on the hubs correctly.

I will contact Alcoa on monday and see what they have to say. If they will only replace the one wheel, then screw 'em. I will just throw the 3 ok ones in the scrap metal bin. I don't trust them at all.

Once again Redthies, I am happy that you caught that problem before it broke. Alcoa is a company with a good reputation so thats hope that they give you some kind of reimbursement. That being said I think you will have more piece of mind driving on steel wheels. Also, can you PM me your telephone number? Cheers, Chilli....

10 minutes on the phone with Alcoa, and four brand new wheels with center caps and lugs are on the way to my door! Now that is seriously good customer service. I know it's a recall situation, and by law they have to deal with it, but I was expecting a painful process. Nope. It was so easy I can't believe it! Great people there!

This is why ExPo is so great. Guys like Larry who have lots of knowledge stored away that can help out in these situations.

nice rig- what work is it that you do in the ski industry?

I run and service Pisten Bully, and used to work for a contractor with Dopplemayer.

I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to do with the wheels. I may just keep the new steelies for winter, and run a different set for summer. We shall see...

Great news. Congratulations.

Keeping the steelies for winter is a wise choice. I always run dedicated winter tires on my trucks in winter. Makes a huge difference.

As sexy as these would look on the truck, I have put them up for sale on Craigslist and Cumminsforum. I'd love to run them, but the salt would destroy them, and I would rather put the money towards new meats for the Rubicon.
