How do you calculate tongue length?

You could mount a buggy whip and a dune flag on each corner, or I saw some illuminated trailer markers for boat trailers at West Marine.. That would make it easy to see even at night.

Nathan, I think there are way too many variables to try and calculate it. TILR is the way.

There's all these competing factors. Tongue weight, tracking, tonque strength, TV hitch length, jacknifing clearance, etc. etc. etc. They all compete, and all will be compromised. Just wing it and use what works for you.

:

Once the trailer is backing in the direction you'd like...
then the counter steer would stop and normal steering would follow... so as to re-align the tow rig to the trailer and continue backing.

The change over between those two modes takes a while to be adept at implementing usefully. For now, I just curse.
