Iceland Off-Road XJ Flares

Are you sure? You could be right but I swear I've seen something on XJ flares from them at least a year ago.

Fairly certain. I inquired about a year or two ago and they cold emailed me yesterday with this new product. Subject of the email is "NEW XJ Flares are here!"

I was looking at WJ flares on their site a month or two ago and did poke around for XJ stuff. It wasn't there then.

Maybe you saw preproduction stuff somewhere?

What a sweet set of products.

I makes me laugh when the virtues of "Overlanding" (I know it's not a word) as a milder form of 4wheeling doesn't seem to go hand in hand with "light duty" or "med duty" components. Everything must be "heavy duty"??

Heck, I wonder if I'll even add much armor to my next Expedition rig.

I think the fiberglass idea is fantastic, the look is GREAT and the prices seem decent also.

Also, I to thought if they can fit 35's with 4" lift, why not 32's or 33's with 2" lift

I'm picturing these flares with wheel/tire take-offs from a JK rubicon, spidertrax wheel adapters and OME springs. Add in an ARB bull bar and DetourUSA rear swing away and I may have to rethink saving for a different vehicle.

BTW the Iceland offroad came out with the XJ bumper about a year ago, these flares are new.

that was my question in post 5 of this thread. :D I think its a great idea, and great way to keep the rig low and stable.

i was just checking the pics on my lunch break. One thing that comes to mind is snorkel fitment. I don't think even the high-riding Airflow snorkel will fit.

hmmm...

I wonder if you'd simply have to resolve to go to a cowl snorkel.

I really like the ZJ winch mount. I think that may be the way i go on my next rig.

If anyone happens to know this guy, might drop him a line about spamming all the Cherokee boards the last few days. He was banned on one board and posts removed on another that i Moderate on. He might want to rethink his approach..

Doh!

Never thought of that. Good call.

No snorkel concerns here, nor will there ever be. :snorkel:

Oh and pics saved as wallpaper :sombrero:

I have a puddle magnet embeded in my body. whenever there is a puddle present, the vehicle I'm driving, no matter if its a dually, honda, minvan or my jeep seems to end up in the middle of it.

:snorkel:a snorkel is just a way of me accepting the inevitable...

Have you seen a write-up of said snorkel? I think it would be neat to combine with a vent which would allow hot air to escape from the engine bay during slow hill climbs.

How about some hood luovers?

Yea - that's the only thing I knew about, but not turning them into snorkels...I would think that if you went through water that rose over the hood that it wouldn't bode well for the engine...

The water would come up from underneath also if you were going that deep. I honestly don't get those cowl snorkels that go up underneath the windshield because it seems to me like it is going to get pretty wet there whether it is a hard rain pouring down or water over your hood from fording a deep crossing.

This /\ is the point I've made, but seem to be talking to deaf ears. haha.

Just this past storm in San Diego, we flooded a tiny bit in the flatlands of east san diego. Several times about 6" of standing water surprised me and had water over my hood in a high-speed spray that washed my cowl and windshield with a good amount of water

I had to hit the brakes, hit my wipers to fast mode. If my intake was on my cowl at about shoulder height, I think maybe it wouldn't have been a good thing!

now if you took the hummer route and extended the tube up to roof rack height, I see no issues, but this defeats the purpose of a low-pro intake that most are going for.
