Hello Dan,
Great job on the van. Great family rig for Alaska.
Too bad you are selling the project but needs change.
We have a 2003 quiggley with the v10 purchased in the valley from nye ford.
How do you feed the fuel from your aux tank into the system?
I have the shortened fuel tank from Quigqly and really get annoyed at the small capacity. When I get to it I will follow your example and add the tank in the rear.
Thanx for the info on the springs. I expect to swap them in fairly soon my current 33 inch tires need replacing so with the increased height 35 inch should fit nicely. It is frustrating to ride on the bump stops off road with the stock quiggley conversion.

Jim

I set mine up to feed the front tank. It fills it through the fuel inlet spout. I was concerned about adding another tank to the system and having the Check Engine light come on. EVAP issues and all. The aux. tank has it's own pump and sending unit. I installed a switch to flip between sending units to check the level in both tanks. and a seperate switch to power the pump in the aux. tank. This would fill the main. Not ideal, but like i said, I wanted no CEL issues. After it was installed I discovered that I did not need the pump in the aux. tank. The main tank draws the aux. tank down all on it's own. This is cool because I don't have to monitor the guages while pumping from one tank to another. It also increased my capacity to it's max by filling the main tank completely. I will fill both tanks, drive for 20 miles or so and the aux will have filled the main to max capacity. The I would fill the aux. again and be totally full. Sound complicated? I guess what happened is I just linked two tanks together and let physics do the rest.

Tinbender. I still have the springs from the earlier lift if you are looking for a set.

springs

I will be more than happy to take those old nasty springs off your hands.:clapsmile
Sent you a pm with contact info.
Also can you explain the details on the shackle flip for the rear springs.
It looks like it will envolve changing shackle attach points on the frame.

Jim

Here's a few pics. It is just a hitch receiver with another piece from a hitch receiver welded on top.
Beauty, thank you sir. I hope you don't mind if I come close to copying it. I love the look of the spare tire swing out with the stock bumper.

On more question about it. For the square tube that you used for the "rest", is that just a piece welded straight to the bumper? It looks like it, but I just wanted to be sure. Great work on that.

Yes, it's welded straight to the bumper. Take your time and it will come out nice. It looked even better with the gray plastic bumper strip on. It was trimmed super tight around the hitch and tire carrier. But it got cracked when another rig bumped it in the cold and then bits and pieces cracked off over time until I just removed it. If I keep the van I'll pick up another one from Ford.

Dan - I can't see any pic that shows the "bumper rest" referred to. All I see is one hitch at 90º to the sacrificed hitch piece welded atop the one coming straight out the bumper....ie, providing your weld with huge torque whenever that Hi-Lift bounces. Is there some sort of close-up pic I've missed, showing it resting atop the bumper?

Is that shot with the van way below from the road out of Hope?

Nice shots of my Denali Highway, btw! I live at the far end of it, near Paxson.

If you click on the link below the mount photos it willl take you to the entire build.

The pic from above is from Craggie Creek in Hatchers Pass. The van has been to Hope several times. Absolutley gorgeous down there.
