Is it impossible to find an FJ47 Troopie?

While I haven't done any financial transactions with John @ Global Classic, he was very helpful when I called him a while back regarding a Troopy.

Also check Craigslist, they pop up there every now and then too.

BTW...reserve on the Troopy (owned by Warn), is supposedly $40K.

Not too bad if you ask me...as that's what I've told a prospective buyer I would take for mine....:smiley_drive:

-H-

If it's a Wrn truck I have a friend who's a big wig over there (Warns a Portland Co.), and I'm gonna go see if I can get a look at it... What I REALLY want is a 43  ...

So Again what the hell is the difference between the 45 and 47? is a 47 the wagon and the 45 is the troupy/LWB PU??? I still didn't get that.

Cheers

PS, I'm very jealous of those talking about going to OZ to bring home a 70ser. Since moving back to Oregon from Queensland, I find myself getting a bit emotional when i thin k about waking up on the station and firing up the cruiser to go start the water pumps. Australia realy is one of the most amazing places I've ever been and I want to move back again if I can...

Wow...but it's been registered as 3 different model years in America...is that gonna pose problems??

Is it possible to drop a tdi in these?[/QUOTE

Not sure about other states but in ohio I take the old title and walk in the DMV with a few dollars and walk out with a new ohio title. No one will ever see the vehicle. If you use the 64,70 or 84 date you still out 25 years if your state is picky.

A 47 is a little later than a 45. I believe 1982+. They are both Troopies and pickups. An HJ45 p/u or troopy will have an H diesel. A HJ47 will have a 2H diesel.

FWIW, I would not bother with an HJ45. The old H diesel is a very tough and reliable engine. However, parts are drying up and that particular diesel is not the best to turbo. You would be much better off going with the 2H.

Also, I would consider going with a gasser and then putting in a diesel later. You could go with a much more modern diesel drivetrain and be able to find parts for it.

This was my exact plan, if I could find the right combo and make it work!!

16 Years on ExPo. Whoa!!
Someone mentioned Vintage Off Road. For ethics purposes (besides that they are not an importer) I would avoid them as well. I wouldn't use the word "scammer" but would say they are very close...

Buy this one, spend a little at a good mechanic. In Adelaide where this one is I would 100% recomend Altrac 4wd And then go and see our country :)

When you're done, load it in a container with all the spare parts and accessories you desire and ship it home.

If you had it booked in ahead of time, you could have it shipshape in a week, spare parts are easy (mirror, windscreen, etc).

That is the excellent advice. Just what I plan to do (Not with this one however). I'm holding out for a 70 series.

Start looking in South America and the Middle East.

My lhd came from Panama. Never came with a heater or dash pad. There isn't a hole cut in the firewall where the heater should go. If I ever come across a lhd I will let you know.
