going from Tucson to Prescott and back - top speed 78 mph fleeing Phoenix up the Colorado Plateau, but I tried to keep it around 65 on the highway. Only a little town driving. Nothing on the roof. Weighing in about 4900 lbs full of fuel (40 gallons).
It's getting better every time I test it!

The palleted kit (no labor) would be close to $20K (lots of adapters, custom intercooler, radiator, new 5-speed transmission and peripheral parts). Labor would put it up to $30K depending on who does it. Think of it as a new vehicle with cool retro look. No diesel swap is cheap (even if you do all your own labor, you're still spending a lot of time on it), and this is a new engine - totally modern.

Good to see that the truck is everything that you had dreamed of and more.Are you still running the 4.11s, how dark did you go on the tint and how are you liking the wheels/tire combo?
Hey there - no, I went back to original gearing, which is much much better and probably improved mileage a few pts.
I did the AZ legal tint on the front, and the just the next darkest on the rear all around (around 38% and 16% respectively). I like it a lot.
And the wheels / tire so far are perfect. Been in sand in Mexico and rough dirt about 500 miles. Perfect, for me. And still light enough I can (barely) handle a tire myself.

Looking good Miss. Is that a new Safari Guard front bumper? The actual grill guard portion looks thicker than the previous models...
The tint & wheels look great. One thing... with the tint, black mirrors and snorkel, you've gotta paint that grill black now too. A quick & easy mod. It's cheap too, which should be very appealing right about now.
I would love to see more photos with the Columbus installed. I've been trying to get some folks to send me some from the Mexico trip... Sorry I'll miss seeing it in Prescott.

But when we add a winch I'll definitely de-chromify the front and anything else I can.
That's the old original SG bumper with a fresh paint and decal. Possibly working with them to build a new one for the rear, too.
Ordered a set of decals for very subtle stripes and door decals on the sides (to cover where the old stripes were). Involving spotted feline. I can't help it. It just sort of happens. I start out designing a plain-jane "businesslike" look and then my hand strays over with the mouse to iStockPhoto and next thing you know I have a vector file of . . . . well, you'll have to wait.

I wanted to say thanks Roseanne, I was getting my windows tinted today and I was originally going to do the rear doors and rear windows with a limo tint. I ended up with a 35 on the front doors and 20 the rest of the way around. I got the 3M top of the line and had them do the front window with a Crystalline 75 that you can barely tell is there but has radically dropped the interior temps while sitting in the sun. Insert disclaimer that I know that the front tint is illegal. :bike_rider: Now if I can just get off the fence and decide wether to stay with 33-10.5s or move to 235/85/16. :victory:

I haven't done a lot at night but since the visibility on those is so expansive, it's good. I would not go darker than what I have (like limo) because of the night visibility. The tint I have is enough so it's hard to see in until you are really up close, the visible and UV light is much reduced for saving upholstery, and it's a nice clean look.
Beware with the old vehicles that any flaw on the glass will show much more after tinting - there are some rubs and scratches in my old rear glass that i didn't know existed!
