Nate, that mountain looks awesome! Clear skies and fluffy snow. :wings:

Really sorry to hear of your falling out Freddy, and really hope you two can patch things up and tackle the world one day at a time...... as a team.

Thanks for all your support.

Totally bummed! Sorry to hear about the split. INSAYN is right though, the NW weather and tight quarters will definitely strain any relationship. Hopefully there is a chance of reconciliation in the very near future. Just remember the original goals of the trip...

So, some new news in the developing story.

I received an envelope today from general delivery at the Tacoma PO. Inside the envelope was my passport and 5 or 6 greyhound baggage claim vouchers. And a kinda immature and nasty letter.

The letter said that all my stuff is in storage at the greyhound bus station in Salem, OR. I have eight days to pick it up. As far as what he is doing. I don't know. I have tried to talk to him many times, but he just won't answer or return my calls. I pissed him off pretty bad I guess. I assume he is still heading South.

I have a bus out of Tacoma tomorrow morning headed for Portland. I still have a package to pick up there from my family. So I will be there tomorrow and possible stay the night. I will at some point have to continue South the get the rest of my stuff in Salem.

As far as what I am going to do, well, I feel I can't quit. I had the same goals no matter what happened. Right now my crazy idea is to get to my stuff, send most of it home. Everything except a backpacks worth of stuff. I think you all know what comes after. I feel it is a very daunting task, but I don't want to quit. I will have to sacrifice a lot of things, things I enjoy doing because I am going to be living out of a back pack.

It sounds insane. I already don't think I can do it. But I am going to give it a shot anyway. I am still going to try and keep this thread up and possibly get my own little blog.

This is crazy.

You'll be fine.

Pick your chin up, keep sharing your story with us, and go. This is just another page, turning itself over, Nate.

I, for one, can't wait to see what's next for you. Because it's real.

Wow, that's a total meltdown. Weren't you two in the Coast Guard together? Anyways, have you thought of getting a vehicle? Just thinking out loud.

It's a daunting situation you are in, but I'm sure things will work out. Maybe get a vehicle, work for a couple months if you have to, back pack your way south, find someone headed south, you have options.

Like the great Joe Dirt once said "Keep on keepin' on"
look me up WHEN you make it to LA for your free beer voucher.

If you want I am driving south next week into Mexico. I can give you a lift for free all the way to the central pacific coast area. You would have to meet me in Idaho by next week or meet me along points south.

Good luck,
Sincerely, Little Darwin

Sorry to hear about the hiccup in the trip. You'll love traveling via backpack. My biggest complaint about truck travel would be the fact that the occupants aren't that exposed to the world they are traveling through. Motorcycles are better, bicycles even better, backpack=perfect! Sure I see draw backs to it as well but no better way to experience the generosity of natives and other travellers.

Have a blast! And remeber if you wind up in AZ first of April, you'll have plenty of friendly folks to drink a veer with at the Ocerland Expo! Heck they may even ask you to give a seminar on how to travel with different personalities.

To continue the Joe Dirt theme, "Lifes a garden, Dig it!"

I've been following your progress since you guys started, you need to re think this trip if you decide to continue on by yourself, before it was two of you and a vehicle, now you're solo and on foot....I'm not saying not to continue, but come up with another plan since your on foot, get your bearing straight....as for the personals question I rather pm you, but as other members say keep your chin up....and keep on trekking....

Sorry to hear it didn't work out the way you planned, but really glad to hear that you are planning on keeping on. This is going to be really cool.

poop happens....life goes on and so does the ADVENTURE!!

I am not suprised one bit, reason being is I have throw two people in a truck and hit the road many times. People can get upset and bent out of shape because of (insert whatever you like here)......

Toss in small living conditions and cold climate just to name a few things and things can fall apart fast. Try it without ever meeting the other person and then jumping right into a foriegn country! In 2 days tops you will know if you can't stand the other person or if you can get along. I been lucky and gotten along pretty decent with my last two co-pilots. Sure things can get stressful and the occasional F*^CK might be yelled but no worries and onward down the road we went!

I will be headed home from Panama next month....you are welcome to jump in with me anywhere at anytime, although I am heading north not south. Or perhaps we can just meet someplace in Latin America and share a beer while reflecting.

Remember it is about the journey not how you get there!! :victory:

So true.....I forgot you're still in s.America...I'm heading down that way end of year....

And Nate...
That's why I'm a loner.....I travel by myself, that's if my wife and daughter can't make it, normally they fly down and meet me wherever....to me company is ok but I don't really need it...I love doing thing at my rate, and if I run into you on the way down, we can hang, chill talk ****......but as these guys are telling you, it's all about finding yourself, learning as you go,self preservation, don't hate Freddy cause you guys can't live together, but try and understand what went wrong, life is full of mysteries, there's always three sides to a story, I really admire you two young men for doing what your doing, infact I respect every member in here cause we all share something in common..........
