Well, since it's actually a regular production JK with some bolt ons, they can sell it to the public via existing Jeep dealers. It's like getting the dealer to install a lift and tires for you. Unlike the J8, which is actually a different vehicle, and would be hard to sell since it's not likely certified/crash tested/etc, and due to the corporate structure in this case a Jeep dealer carrying it would essentially be carrying a competing product.
Honestly, what's the point? I can only imagine how much money they want for all those ugly bolt ons.

Sorry, I was talking about the J8. I remember seeing them with some exotic boxes on back, mine packages, lumber packages. All ORV, non-highway.

There is one dealer in the US that sells J8's (yes, actual J8s) to mines and other ORV uses.
It's not hard to find, but they absolutely can't sell you one to be registered.
They *might* be able to get you some tasty J8 parts, as they can order anything they want from that parts catalogue

The Thrasher badge is dead. That build still exists but under a different name.

I tend to agree. Although at events it's been a huge hit. It's kinda like the funky grills. I'd never put a angry looking grill on my jeep but they sell like crazy!
The J8 Troop Carrier did amazing on the drive across country. It hit 115 on a flat straight away Lol.
The military badging is something that ties Jankel to their roots. 60 years of LE and Military experience. Many of the employees of Jankel are LE, military and SF. Jankel is very involved in the armed forces in products as well as support to vets.
Not only does Jankel build vehicles but seating also. Blastech blast seats are widely used and save lives. I know not everyone likes the "military theme" but I can respect it. The great thing about paint jobs is its only paint unlike a rhino lined Jeep. Lol Any color or level of gloss is available.
