jk 4dr Rhino Backbone Roof Rack

Anyone know how much height the Rhino Rack Backbone system adds? Also, how much does it weight? I know similar racks that utilize that platform weight about 70lbs.

Don't know the weight, but one person can pick it up. I'll measure mine Monday. I talked to them last week and they have a mounting system that sits even lower than the one I have. I think mine is around 5" from the roof.

Oh really? I'd like as low as possible.
Measuring at the back of the freedom panel from roof to top of rack is 4 1/2".
Measuring at the back of the hardtop where the seam runs left to right it is 5" from the roof to the top of the rack.
I should have the new legs soon. They should bring the overall height down another 1" from where it sits now.

Klaus, have a look at the teraflex NEBO rack if you want lo profile!

Looks like they updated the website with proper weight handling specs for the Nebo:

• Static load rating of 850 lbs
• Dynamic driving load rating of 200 lbs

Did they say the part number... was about to order?

That's a really interesting idea! I don't think it'll work too well for a hard shell roof top tent. But for those looking for an OEM style rack, it's perfect.

I'm leaning toward the Maximus 3 rack at the moment. Or forgetting about the RTT and resuming my build plan.

Even with the slat kit? I'm not well versed in the hard shell RTT mounting but assumed it was similar to a regular RTT.

One other thought:

I don't know if you plan on leaving the hardshell RTT on the rack at all times. The reason I ask is that if you are going to be removing it when not in use, getting between the rack and the roof even with the Gobi rack, is a giant pain. I ended up ordering the Gobi Accessory bars to attach to the RTT so that the only mounting points are at the edges of the rack and then you don't need to get between the rack and the roof.

Something to consider as you look at the different rack designs if you plan to put the RTT off and on as needed. I learned the hard way obviously!! :sombrero:

I currently have the AEV roof rack but really want to install the CVT RTT.. but I can't seem to find anyone that has done that, not sure what I need to make sure that it will mount and what mounting kits I need to make it work.. I'm really trying not to drill through it since the RTT will be a seasonal use only. If anyone out there can point me to the right direction that would be awesome.

i have the rhino rack back bone with 2 aero crossbars. Never had anything heavy on top but quality and install was pretty straight forward except for the front 2 mounts. i must of drilled slightly off angle so i had to oval out the bottom hole to install the brackets. the front brackets also allowed some water to leak into the cab but fixed that with some silicon.

squirrel pew. NICE RIG....very nicely done. I would contact AEV. They would be able to fix you up no problem.
