The Trip to Nowhere 2013 is complete

Well, I arrived back in Santa Monica safe and sound, the Montero no worse for wear, after a nearly four week journey through the Southwest, Gulf Coast, Deep South, East Coast, Canadian North East, the Great Lakes Region, the Mid West, the Rockies and back to California. Whew, it was a lot of driving and ended up being more of an overview trip as I didn't spend more than two days in any one place...but that's OK because now I have a long list of places I know I'll need to return to.

In all, the odometer started at 117,000 and by the time I came full circle, ended up at 128,000.

The trip began with a few old buddies who were able to take some time off from work to join me on the first leg. Then they left out of Nashville and I was on my own.

Here's the crew after an all night drive from L.A. to Tempe on day 1; Hank, myself and Boram.

Wow, just wow. Next time let us know before you leave. You can be the Montero driving equivalent to Forrest Gump running across the continent. People can join you along the way!

wow, great pics. Amazing trip you took. FYI that is the Acadian flag, slightly different from the French. Cheers

Thanks, it was truly an amazing experience and I can't await to hit the road again. Hopefully more offroad travel next time as the Montero has proven its road worthiness.

nasko, ahhhh, the Acadian flag, thanks for that...I was wondering what the gold star on the flag was all about.

I did a bike ride in Nova Scotia years ago. We flew the Adacian flag from a bike safely flag pole mounted on my bike. The locals thought it was cool of us. Had the best seafood meal of my life on a little wharf where all the local fishermen dock. Would love to go back...
