That's must've been a fantastic ride Monty. I actually saw quite a few cyclists on the Cabot Trail, many all geared up with front and rear pannier bags, apparently out for the long haul. Felt sorry for 'em though as there were a couple of long 15% grades.:Wow1:

We rode the southern end. Took the ferry from Bah Habah over. We decided in the first day that the hills were too much for the gear we had. Stopped in the first town and stripped down to the bare essentials and shipped the rest home, LOL.
.
On the float back, the two of us met two other guys on bikes coming back as well. Hung out on the 8 hour ferry ride. Turned out they went to college with one of our best friend's brother. All of us from Ohio and that happens on a ferry in the semi-northern Atlantic. Small freakin' world. I went on to become great friends with one of the other two. We did another short trip together, and spent a lot of time rock climbing in West VA. Ah, to be you again...
.
My wife's uncle just finished building a vacation house that is off the beaten track and I think looks down on the Bay of Fundy. It is complete with guest cottage. We are hoping take them up on the offer to come up some time.

Lake Isabella, CA

Did a bit of trail riding this weekend in the hills above Lake Isabella, Wagy Flats specifically. The trail I took was fairly tame although there were a few dedicated 4x4 trail offshoots that looked pretty hairy. I was tempted, though being alone, decided to stay on the main trail.

Outside temps were 102F and after a long uphill stretch the rig got up to 223F according to my Ultragauge, the hottest I've seen it (although the temp gauge never moved above the mid mark and trans temp light never came on). For reference, flat freeway cruising it'll run 195F and uphill I've seen 210F.

Nice photos. Sounds entirely too hot for that altitude! I forget, did you install an electric fan?

Ah, you're right nwoods, it was 102F near the lake, not at altitude. By the time I got up into the hills, the truck was running so hot the outside temp gauge was reading 123F, so I don't really know what the temp was up there. I'm just running the stock fan.

I saw your car driving on the 395 towards mojave on Sunday lol. I was in my friends silver fj going the other way towards cottonwood lakes to do some backpacking.

Hey SoCal, have fun man...it was hot up there, and the lake is the lowest I've seen it in about 30 years. In fact, there are old trees sticking up in the middle of the lake. Also, highly recommend going in through Mojave and the South Fork. There's some major construction going on on the Grapevine and the traffic is brutal.

Michael, small world man, haha.

Hungry Valley Off Road Park

Drove up to Hungry Valley and was there just long enough to look around the practice area. I'll be going back for sure.

The mud pit was touch and go, but I got through.

Testing the Center Diff and Suspension Travel in 4Llc. (The squeak is something in my brakes from the mud pit.)

Wagy Flats Redux

Went back up to Lake Isabella and Wagy Flats over the weekend.

This trail went off the main road. Too much to tackle alone...looked exciting though.

Lighting/Roofrack

Here are some night shots of the LED interior lights I installed a few months back. They really make a big difference.

Red LEDs in stock cabin light locations.
IMG_0170.JPG

Additional white LEDs.
IMG_0171.JPG

Added a switch in the CHMSL surround.
IMG_0174.JPG

It controls a separate circuit that powers only the cargo area LEDs.

Eurosonic, sorry for the late response regarding where I got the roof rack gutter mounts, a question you asked a loooong time ago. I ended up making them as I coundn't justify the cost of premade ones.

They are made out of 3/16" flat stock, bent for the legs, with 5/16" round tube stock welded on for the clamp passthrough. The clamp is 5/16" threaded stock with a piece of angle iron welded to the end. Nuts are nyloc. The hardest part was welding the gutter mounts onto the body of the rack so they'd all be in alignment, with the rack off the vehicle. The rack has held up great so far, though I still have yet to really load it up.

In my experience the factory rear locker was not available in the US for the 2000 model year.
