Jumping Jack Trailer......build?

Hi all, just wanted to post a quick thread about my new purchased 2013 jumping jack trailer.
This thread will be a very slow going thread as the initial purchase price has not allowed a lot of wiggle room for funds for upgrades. But I would love to get some feedback from guys around for their ideas and if anyone has/ had one where they made improvements. I know there are not a whole lot of guys on here with them but I have found some.
One thing I won't be changing is the wheels and tires. I have two different tow rigs so bolt matching the rims pretty much is out of the question. And as for bigger tires and a lift its more of the deal as we have bought this to haul out quads. (raptor 660 & 400ex. -Or a arctic cat 4x4) so I have no interest in driving a sport quad up a higher ramp then what I have already. Here is a pic from last Friday night at pickup time.
Most posts with some of the options and plans for mods coming tomorrow.

you in NV? we looked at those but since we do a lot of back country camping the JJ was just not set up for anything beyond packed dirt roads. nice product tho. good luck.

nope, i am up in CO. we got this from Jax outdoor. (thats where this pic is) yes the JJ certainly has limits, but they are after the guys that have off road toys and still like to "Rough it" a bit or i am so told that your "roughing it" if you dont have a toy hauler.. lol
for my purposes right now we thought this would be the perfect trailer for us, small, lightweight, up off the ground and dry, all being able to haul the quads on top! I currently have a topper on my fullsize truck(sleep in the back) that we use when we do more of the overland/expo wheeling and sight seeing.

options we got with it.
cooler rack
water rack
kitchenette top
3 half bed extensions
spare tire
small awning
lantern post
carpet
table legs

as far as the mods go, i am been toying with the idea of a dedicated hi lift bolted to the side, ax & shovel, and fuel and fresh water all bolted on. next thing being that the JJ levels out with the tongue jack in front with a small kick down stabilizer in the back. i am thinking two crank tongue jacks up front with to of the stabilizers out back. one of those small angled tongue boxs on the hitch as well. maybe some solar cells and a battery with inverter to round out the mods. as soon as i need some new tires (3-4 yrs down the rd dry rotting withholding) i will prob go up a few size just for the little more height, but it will be nothing crazy.
one thing that is really nice is the fact that they do come with a torsion axle for a few more inchs of ground clearance.

cool, got it. I have family in Ft. Collins and make it a must-see to visit JAX main store and the JAX farm supply store north of town on each visit. enjoy that nice rig!

I looked at the JJ but settled on the Lifetime. Cost was my contributing factor.

On mine, I swapped the axle and tires so that I could handle a heavier load. A cord of firewood was my target capacity.
My rear stablizer jack was too short when I went with new tires, so I have two scissor jacks on the back of it.
I am looking at either at installing a battery or a Goal Zero on the tongue.

That's what I have (planning for power ) done to mine.

Oh yeah I looked at the lifetime ones and the price on those is much better, but I need to haul 2 quads so that got ruled out pretty quickly. do you have a build thread?

We have owned a JJ for nearly 10 years. Fantastic little trailer, particularly for a young family. There are also super useful, filling the role of utility trailer most of the time.

The only modification we have done to ours is the installation of BFG ATs, mostly for looks and puncture resistance.

No build thread ... Not that talented!

I only need to haul wood, bikes and home stuff and I bought a brand new lifetime trailer for under $1400. It was the 'floor model' at my local Costco. It needed new lights since they were broken ...

Yes your review is the best one on the Internet. I prob read your review 25-30 times over in the three yrs it took me and wife decide if the JJ was right for us. I first found them at a sportsman show of jan. of 2010 and bought ours at the same show this jan. there is very little about these out here on the net and a lot of them have mostly negative comments or reviews on them. There are a lot of people complaining about the cost. And a lot of people that simply don't understand the (small) market these guys are after. A lot of knocks for the lack of standard pop up amenities. And for the size of the trailer (small) and ability to take it down a trail.
Even though it will be a little while for the "build" section of this thread to take place...maybe even a yr. my plan is to get a thread that has good info on these. Maybe my thread can help someone like myself that's on the fence like I was for so long.

I like the concept of these trailers, but just can't wrap my head around the price. You've got a quality canvas tent ($1000) on a decent utility trailer ($2000). So why do the dumb things cost $5k and up? It doesn't compute. Granted, my popup can't carry two quads on top of it, but I have much better sleeping conditions and could put 2 quads in the truck if I had to. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the JJ, nor those who use them. I'm knocking the sticker price.

Well It might be something to look into if you can buy the tent only? I think a $1000 is a bit off. It would cost you at least 1500 to 2500 for a shop to build that tent. The material is very expensive I believe it is marine canvas.

i think you'll get more use out of the trailer. i see people selling off road trailers that really arent useful for much else and they want 6k-9k for their trailer. so after searching and looking at everything I've seen on the market these trailers are one of the better deals in the market.

If you look hard at the construction, quality of workmanship, components, etc the cost is a bit more justified. All metal is powdercoated, not painted for instance. Inner table, carpet, spare wheel/tire & mount, outer table and legs, loading ramp stops, are all included in the base price. Accessories are pricey, but well made and work as intended. Interior room is really large and height is nearly 7 feet. Payload capacity of over 1700 lbs. if you pull the tent out and use as a utility trailer.
I am getting ready to buy a side by side UTV, and so far this trailer is the #1 prospect for hauling it on.

I had one for 3 years, loved it. Lengthened the frame by 4 feet, added more storage and an A/C. Worked great and was indestructible, the powder coating was less than durable, but that was my only complaint.
