Hey Mark - got your PM and will respond shortly to that. But anyway - very cool that you have access to common raw materials.
With regard to the "table top" on the door of the galley, yes that is corian. I am in construction and I work often with a particular
woodworker here in Jersey. When I realized that a nice piece of corian would be an ideal surface for this application (tough, durable
supremely waterproof) I called him and asked him if he had any corian scraps he said "tons - pass by the shop and take what you need".
Music to my ears! I had enough to also make an adjustable shelf/emergency cutting board to separate the stove/cookware compartment.
The pain in da azz was removing the protection bar / stiffener that is welded to the door. Then grinding down the welds and scarifying the
inside of the door surface and the back of the corian top as to allow for better glue adhesion. Also had to notch out the corian for the locks.
I see your box has one as well...
BTW - my inspiration came from a galley that MatthewP built and posted up here on Expo. I contacted him during my build and he was very helpful.
I ended up camping with him, his wife and few others from the "ARSES" group event in Pennsy last fall - Bald Eagle State Forest. Lots of fun!
