Just purchased a Military trailer to build a family hauler

I had some time and daylight after work to finish the receiver mounts that will hold my cooking table.
the holes drilled well with a new set of Craftsman bits. I mounted the 1/8" plate to three crossmembers under the trailer tub.
Two holes were open and I used lock nuts with the bolts the other four were blind and needed to be tapped.

The steel of the M101A2 trailers is thick and taps nice.
all six bolts snugged down tight and may be over kill but I want this to last.

I stated before that I won a nine foot offset post umbrella, I am going to make a receiver mount to slide it into and be able to use it with the trailer.
It will be removable from the receiver tube and store in the trailer simular to a flag pole mount.

Here is todays progress:

I can't take credit for the receiver mounts It is my design for the tank mount, I am too cheap to spring for the store bought version.
Jemstube is the seller on ebay to buy the receiver tubs from. Email him for better prices and cheaper shipping.

More to come as money permits.
I am searching for a good deal on a RTT.

Now if only you could ship two propane mounts to Australia.

Really enjoying the build and the well thought extra touches

That umbrella is going to look great. No poles on the ground, no guy lines, self-sufficient and free-standing, it's brilliant! You are definitely stepping outside the box with this build. Very creative and functional thinking. Can the umbrella slide into a 4" tube when folded up?

Umbrella mount and a couple more receivers.

Had some time before work and went in and sheared a couple 1/8" steel plates to make single receiver mounts. As others stated a 2" receiver would be more beefy! I had an extra 2" x 6" tube and mounted it to one of the steel plates.

Drilled tapped and painted the mounts went on quickly.
The next order of business was the umbrella mount. I cut the original tube down and used a short section welded to a 2" sleeve that slides into the larger reciever tube.
a 5/8" pin will hold it in place and a 1/4" pin through the tube will keep the off set umbrella from lifting out.
The red 1100 pound trailer will keep it from tipping over!

I added a triangle brace to the tube for strength and to make it look a little more
professional. The other mount I made went on the opposite side and is 1 1/4" like the first two.

I work in the front yard of my house as you can see in the pictures.
It is great entertainment for those who drive by and wonder what the heck I am up to!
I try to tell them I am building a camping trailer " they don't get it"
So I lie and tell them it is a "tailgating trailer for Stiller Games an dat!"

Not to worry Mark....your "neighbs" just don't get it! While they're packed nuts-to-butts in they're "RV" in the campground ... you'll be capable of setting up camp anywhere you see fit. I can't believe how much most people miss by not straying off the beaten path a bit.......but let's not tell em'...haha

When you tell them it's a bug out trailer, make sure you are wearing your aluminum foil hat (so they can't monitor your thoughts!!!)

Looks great, Mark. I really like the idea of the 2 inch receiver hitches on the side. Now, you've got me thinking I should add one to each corner. I like the idea of being able to mount a table, BBQ, or something else to the side of the trailer. Great idea!
