Here is my first attempt at making a knife. It was a Christmas gift for the fiancé (hence the pink liners).
It is 3/16 thick 1080 steel. 3 1/4" blade. Some sort of burl wood for the handle? Same wood on fire steel. Kydex sheath until I can learn to do leather.
Overall very fun project! It took a heck of a lot longer than I thought it would to finish. Heat treating was the most difficult thing for me. I didn't have time to make a forge and had to get it up to temp in an oxygen bottle cap with a MAPP and propane torch. I realized I would starve to death in the custom knife business. She really liked it though!
Here is a small EDC I made a couple years ago. A friend of mine is a knife maker and I spent a few hours visiting him. This was what I made while I was there.
I have to go see him soon. I need to make another. LOL
Both knife and sheath are beautiful!! Do you make sheaths? I just got a new knife that came with a kydex sheath, but I'd like to have a custom leather one so it would be more comfortable to carry on the belt
