L322 Range Rovers potential great buys?

Cannot help but think that the new 2014 Range Rover will add fuel to the already rapid depreciation seen in L322 Range Rovers.

I have been shopping around for a new vehicle for my wife/light overland duty. Leading candidate thus far has been 2006 LR3 as they can be had with 60-70k mileage for around 15k. However, if the Range Rover takes a large depreciation hit, it seems possible that may be a option.

Anyone using an L322 Range Rover for off-road duty? It seems like the new favorite is becoming the LR3/LR4.

We own a newer MKIII and love the car. It is Stephanie's daily driver and we have done some light exploration with it. A shockingly good vehicle and a bargain used (we paid in the low 30s for it).

same here, wife has one, LOVES it. Nothing more than some dirt parking lots, but have done plenty of deep snow in CO (on the roads) and never had any issues.

would be great on fire roads ect...

2006 (non supercharged) and older have more front suspension travel as well.

(actually trying to see if we can sell it but not because we don't like it)

They are surprisingly capable. This one is a 2004, I believe, with 33 inch tires and a 2 inch software lift. Looks and drives great.

There is much more aftermarket support for the LR3/4, but if you can fabricate, you can make whatever you want. I was also looking at getting an LR3 for my wife, but I may be swayed toward the L322 as it is such a nice truck for the money.

My fiancee just bought a silver 2006 Range Rover L322 with just under 58k miles for under $27k. 1 owner and great condition. She has driven twice since her test drive and both times she has gotten "suspension fault" warnings, one of whick dinged over and over until she stopped and restarted the rig. 2nd Day of ownership and it is back at the dealer for repair work...

What am I saying? While I agree that they are potential great buys, they are also potential maintenence mightmares. I was aware of RR's documented EAS issues prior to the purchase, so when I saw the "suspension fault" warning, I was prepared, albeit, disappointed. We got an extended warranty, so we are protected to some extent, but damn if I am not a little put off. If it wasn't such an awesome rig in every other aspect of its build quality, I would be tempted to give it right back to the dealer.
