Yeah, it's a '72 Squareback I bought for the wife to make into a beach cruiser. Plan is to paint, lower, skinny whitewalls and drop a bigger motor into it; you know, girly it up a bit. I told my son I wanted to be able to do wheelies.:Wow1:
It was the victim of a motor fire. I really didn't need another project, but..........

So far I've corrected a little rust, pulled the motor and repainted the engine compartment and lowered it 2 notches in the back and 3 in the front.

Ugly sucker. I think they're comonly referred to as pignoses, because of the squared front ends. Next time I'll get a '68 or older.

Now back to Landcruisers.

Nice. Ive only ever has water cooled dubs but do love early Ghias and squarebacks. After four, I am VW less right now but do want to get another at some point soon.

Apologies for the continued interruption, but that really takes me back. I grew up riding in the back of a silver Squareback. Some of my earliest vivid memories are of when my parents and I traveled from South Texas up to the Dakotas and over through Montana and Wyoming in the summer of '74 when I was just a wee lad.

For my penance I promise to post some 80-Series not-too-poser pics once we get a friend's OME lift installed later this week. Cross my scout's honor heart... :ylsmoke:
