Land Rover Defender Hardtops -Why would you want a hard panel no window top

Hey guys,
Ive seen 2 different hardtops for the D90, one with side windows and another without. Why would the hard panel no side windows be preferred? What additional use does it provide if any?

I see to primary advantages of the van body: it's a work van and you will be using shelves or something that you might not want backing up to the Windows.

The other reason might be if you are traveling in places where security is a concern, not having windows in the back might limit how someone might access your vehicle.

Go with the windows. The increased visibility is well worth it.

Let’s go already!
We debated the hard top vs SW when we got our 110. Taxes were not an issue, as they are for some. (different models taxed differently)

For us, the size of the truck and lack of visibility necessitated a SW. I needed to be able to see out the passenger side for merging, parking, etc.

Either Genuine or aftermarket window guards can be installed. That is a bit safer than glass, but still may leave your items visible.

What year 90 are you looking at, and where?

Being from the UK, Defenders were primary a farm truck, so seats weren't important....along with windows. Not everyone carries kids, so the 'hard top' (no windows) has always been a popular option in the UK, for farmers, work trucks and people who just prefer the look.
My 110 was a 9 seater, though as I don't have kids, I took all the seats out (except front 2!) so I can use all of the space, the rear side window panels were swapped for 88" hard top sides (straight swap) so it aided security, looks better IMHO and less rattles.
The passenger doors make access to the rear easier, than if I just had a 110 hardtop.
