lap top(subject might be redundant)

Our Dell lap top gave up the ghost today.
I will never buy another Dell, so that said what are some suggestions for a "travel" proof lap top that would be say "bullet proof"?

Any and all suggestions will be accepted, and I don't care if they are Apple?

if you are looking for a small netbook my Eee 1000H has been the best $300 ever spent.

I love it better than the 10+ laptops that I have owned.

Get a good external hard drive b/c computers are now disposable items.

We have owned a Fujitsu Lifebook for over a year and many thousands of miles off pavement with it, inadventent jumps and lots and lots of very bad roads. It has never failed us . It has a shock proof hard drive that is really shock proof.

I've personally had great luck with the IBM/Lenovo thinkpad line. My T60p is going strong with no issues after 4 years now, and my brother got 7 years out of his R40 before he retired it for a new one

They are built significantly stouter than the average consumer grade laptop, with a full metal internal structure and formed metal screen cover as well.

I think Dell makes a ruggedized laptop that looks normal. Or maybe it was IBM or HP
