LC vs Trooper vs Montero

I'll have to get some more seat time with my buddy's Sport then. I'll be taking out the 2nd row seats (at least most of the time) so I think it would be good for space. And for the compressor, do you need to have a tank with that little ARB to operate lockers and pump up tires? Or is that more for air tools? Air tools would be cool to have, but may not be the best use of space with that compressor.

looks like the Sport is pretty close in specs to a 4Runner. I wonder how they would compare?

I do think the Sport is competition for the 4Runner and the full-size is more for the LC.

The litttle (I mean tiny) ARB compressor is for lockers only and not to be used for inflation. They have a larger compressor for that.

I have the little one for the two lockers and an Extremeaire for inflation. The tank isn't absolutely necessary, but help with air tools (not really necessary for an air ratchet or impact wrench with that compressor if you don't mind waiting a bit sometimes) and speeding up airing up 6 tires. If you just want to inflate 4 tires, skip the tank and save the cargo space.

As has been said, the Sport is a smaller rig meant to compete with the 4runner, Rodeo, etc. and not the full sized rigs.

It's also not as readily available overseas as the montero/pajero.

If we tossing a Chevy Blazer in the mix than we should also nominate a Ford Bronco of any vintage. The coil sprung front end rides a billion times better than the leaf sprung chevy.

A 7.3L Powerstroke, ZF 5 or 6 speed and Dana 60's can easily be swapped in for real cheap and a 1996 bronco eddie baurer is very affordable. I would say the international made 7.3L diesel would be serviceable world wide.

I know a lot of guys love their Broncs, it doesn't really fit my style though. I just checked out some specs and it does seem to fit a lot of my criteria, so who knows. Thanks for the idea.
