Lets see cargo area storage mods

I made a deck which holds fridge and 2 wolfpac boxes (bottom box is for parts, oils and bottle jack, top box is a kitchen). There is also plenty of room for bags. Under the deck I store chairs, table and such. I use factory floor storage for tools. The high lift jack is bolted to upper rollbar with brackets and 19mm bolts. I use tailgate table for cooking and folding table for eating.

On tire carrier I got 5 gal of gas next to filler cap. That way I can refuel without removing the can by using super syphon. On the other side a 5 gal front runner water jerry can. It has a tap on the bottom so I don't need to remove it during use. I can actually sit under it and take a half *** shower. In the basket a fiberglass propane tank and a burner. It's a great way to have a small camp fire during fire restrictions or a quick warm up in the mornings ( propane burner is considered a stove). My goal was to have a set up that takes no time to set up or brake down.

My LJ Rear Storage

I've posted this photo a few times in some other threads, including this one, so why not one more time...

Here's the plywood deck I built. I really like it because I can get to my cooler and ActionPacker without having to unload all my junk to get to it.

Is it an optical illusion or the rear tire looks a lot bigger then then the front ?

A Small Mod - but i just installed Back Trail outfitters saddle bags in my Jeep - they make use of the waisted space above the wheel wells pretty effectively. Made from thick canvas duck cloth with YKK brass zippers and leather mounting straps. Nicely made.

Stores easily my rear tent, recovery gear, chemical toilet, food, drinks, water and clothes for a one week trip in the western alps.

I removed the back seat and had a friend build a deck to create a flat floor with storage underneath. There is now a Tuffy box in the far back for secure storage, with more storage on the top of the box...and the Trek Armor seat covers provide additional storage. The 63-qt ARB is in the Jeep 24/7 and fits perfectly between the seat and the Tuffy box

I love that flat floor plate that replaces the rear seat! Do you have any drawings for it? Id love to build something like that!

ARB Fridge-Freeze Platform

Here are some pics (in progress) of the platform I made for my ARB Fridge-Freeze. Made the platform out of 3/4" plywood & some left over 2x4's I had around the garage. Not perfect, but it works for what I need. I also have a Safari Rack that mounts above the fridge (not shown in the pictures, but shown on the drawing).

The platform secures to the rear seat brackets using heavy duty U-bolts, washers and nylon-sleeved nuts. The pictures don't show the mounting very well. If anyone is interested, I'm happy to take more pictures and post them...

Works well for me…. I tend to secure Rubbermaid tubs with ratchet straps next to the fridge (storing the camp kitchen, etc), with softer (and lighter) items like sleeping bags on the Safari Rack.

Ditto. It really is a great solution for those who don't need the rear seats in their JKU.

I've seen a couple of pretty slick platforms built out of these no-weld erector set/tinker toy products like http://industrialerectorset.com/T-Slot-2.asp and http://eztube.com. These solutions look to be very strong and much lighter than wood construction. I may build a platform out of one of these so I can slide my cooler and an action packer underneath and have the top for the rest of my gear. I haven't found a rear shelf I like that isn't stupid expensive.

I had the custom slide out built by slide master. Ive been very happy with it. Worked great in Moab where I beat the crap out of it. Holds 300lbs static. The upper shelf is baja designs. Another great piece of kit.

Hey Mike, that's a great looking set up. I Googled Baja Designs and couldn't find that upper shelf. From the website it looks like all they sell is lighting. Would you mind posting a link?

Thanks a lot,
