1990 Grand Wagoneer

I picked up a Grand Wagoneer for my wife recently. I still have the 1985 Waggy, but I am going to sell it. The one I got for her is a daily driver now and needs very little. If I had a place to store the 1985 out of the weather, I would be keeping it I think. Anyway, just a few poser shots of the new to Grand Wagoneer...

This is my 1997 F150 Supercab 4x4. 4.6L V8 with 3.55 gearing and limited slip rolling on 265/70r17 rubber. I picked up the camper for $50 last weekend and it is in great shape and I just want to clean it up, put a safari rack on top(has aluminum frame supports) and paint it.

went to do some trail exploring today, but figured the berm they just placed there was for a reason so my daughter took these

Went for a drive with my 2yo son and parents who are visiting from Nebraska, I figured I'd get them high. Altitude.....high altitude. The first pic is a connecting road between Gem Peak (47.91385 -115.90723) and Idaho Point (47.88762 -115.95457), and the second pic is on top of Idaho Point. This mountain isn't necessarily steep, but the trail is narrow and its all rock and once you get to the top there is only enough room for one vehicle to turn around. Third pic is a shot of the road we traveled up and the summit as seen from a nearby mountain called Eighty Peak (47.88835 -115.94786) which is currently home to a repeater for forest service radios, but also served as a WWII radar site.

So, how high did you get to?

cent frum a smaert fone

Idaho Point is just over 6500 feet and the road ends a couple yards short of the top, and Eighty Peak is about 6460 feet elevation and we got all the way to the top. Our mountains aren't as high as most of them in Colorado or elsewhere but the elevation gains you get from the valley to summit is pretty big, most towns and houses are just over 2000 feet and our highest peak is Snowshoe Peak in the Cabinet Mountain Wilderness Area at over 8800 feet.

This is a pic of the road on Idaho Point, its not technical or anything but narrow and at the top there is only room for one truck or maybe two jeeps.

should really start a build thread when I get a chance.

Okay,

I've been looking at those beadlocks. How are they working? What lift and what size tires are you running? My Excursion is on a ReadyLift 2in, locked front, stock limited slip rear on 35's. My 2005 is leaf springs front and rear, so a simple lift. I run 20 PSI with no problems when wheeling.

I'm contemplating 37's on 20" rims, and adding a Detroit to the rear. I have on board air, are the beadlocks necessary, In your opinion? Of course this is no rock crawler but I use it hard when I get to where I'm going.

Interested in your opinions

If you are going to 37", I would really consider sticking with a 17 or 18 and maintain the bigger sidewall.

I ran 37x12.50s on 17x8.5 wheels for about 2 years. The tires were Load D range

I recently changed to 37x13.50s on 20x10 this summer......the currently tires are Load E range

The truck feels MUCH MORE stable and solid, but the tire/wheel combo also weighs a decent amount more
