Workin on it....

Here's my project.

My wife bought me a stock 2004.5 Dodge Ram 2500 cummins for my birthday in 2006.

I told her that I would rig the thing up right and take her to all of the lower 48 off road in 2012.

So far I have:

-6 inch lift with Bilstein all around.
-35 inch Toyo Open Country's. (best off/on tire I've ever had. My second set...)
Twin Optima Deep Cycles batteries waiting to hook up some camping stuff...
-Banks Ram Air intake
-Banks Cold air intake
-Bully Dog controller
-4 inch straight pipe by me.
-High Tech Rear dif cover with 8 quarts of Royal Purple sloshing around (not shown in pic)
-Twin reverse lights integrated into bumper by me. (not shown in pic)
-High lift mounted
-Custom (redneck style :sombrero:tailgate ammo boxes by me.)
-Custom sway bar end links

Saving for:
-off road pop up camper
-Aluminess front and rear bumper with winch

That's it. She'll be done and we'll hit the dirt road. :victory:

interesting setup with the ammo cans
Yeah, most think they are ugly, but they are great for stinky stuff that you don't want in the cab like sweaty gloves, dirty ropes, nasty bungees...stuff like that. Very handy. Been on for over a year and the bolts and rubber washers are holding fast.

:sombrero:Lots of nice looking trucks here on this last page. I like the set-up you have Cornfed. Innovation and fabrication is the way to go when you have a good idea. Also I like the look of your Trailblazer James. Just the right additional gear to make a newer truck functional in the bush.:costumed-smiley-007

Observer
My full size rig may not fit in with the more expedition oriented rigs in this thread, but people like to look at pics so I will post it nonetheless.

I did have every intent of using this thing for more camping/back country travel type wheeling when I started building it, but quickly found it wasn't well suited to any of that, lol.

It wheels good though :sombrero:

My thoughts...

#1. Drive one and you will figure it out REAL quick. One of the nicest ways
to make power out there...

#2. Duramax is a computer controlled engine. 12 valve Cummins is a one
wire engine and waaaaaay easier to swap in. The Duramax is also an
ISUZU engine...

Aside from the feasability of a 1 wire engine swap; the Duramax is a damn fine powerplant, Assembled in America despite the Isuzu nameplate..... and has proven itself since introduction in 2001 (let alone being one of the more reliable worldwide diesel manufacturers) . Injector issues from the earlier D-max trucks are also common in almost every heavy commonrail diesel. Just ask the 03-up cummins guys about injector failures.
